Too many 1 run games
Anyone notice that there a bunch of 1 run games, especially during the playoffs? We've played 3 seasons so far and every single playoff game was either a 1 run game or a blow out. This is really weird and it kind of makes it unrealistic. Is this a know issue?

Weird, I haven't seen that in any of my solo leagues. Still if you think there's a bug you should probably post in tech support.

We had a bunch of that in WBH too during playoffs yesterday. I was more successful in that league than in Amazinz though.

I saw this in my failed attempt to move the Pro Circuit to the new version as well.

I have notice that more so in my minor league teams, but I contribute that to my outstanding pitching and my terrible (the word terrible doesn't do it justice) hitting.

To make this clear, there is no code in the game that influences the game engine depending on certain circumstances, for example playoffs. Or that mystic 'comeback code' never existed, and never will be. Last edited by Markus Heinsohn; 01-25-2007 at 11:43 AM. |

Dola, I just checked my current league, and of 36 playoff games, 8 were 1-run games, 6 of which came in extra innings. Sample size folks.

I havent really noticed an unusual amount of 1-run games in the playoffs personally. But on the surface, I would think the fact that you have 2 playoff-caliber teams playing would invite more competitive games...so maybe you might see more 1-run games due to the teams being fairly even in talent.

Just spend about 15 minutes picking through baseball-reference.com and check the scores of post season games ffom 1990 on. You find a large number of 1-run games and blowouts.

Indeed. 1-run games are very common, because they include home team wins in the bottom of the 9th and extra innings.

Plus the teams that have made it to the playoffs often did so on the strength of good to great pitching and defense. Therefore you're going to have two teams facing each other with pitching staffs that are tough to beat as opposed to the regular season where some of the games will be against teams with lousy pitching.
