Manually Retiring Players Question

I'm starting a historic replay in 1921 and have inputed significant players from 1876 til 1920. These players are now in my free agent list. Is there a way for me to manually move them into retirement. Some of the guys in 1920, 1919, etc... are in their 30s and I don't want teams picking them up and thereby altering their stats.

Give them a career-ending injury by entering '254' for the recovery time, this will keep teams from signing the players and in almost all cases the player will retire at the end of the season.
