Welcome aboard new guys .. also I am strongly against placing last years expansion teams and this years into the same division. They are expansion and second year teams and they either need to do the amazing job Bear did or get their teeth kicked in like they are supposed to LOL

While I'm not really excited about the prospect of recycling fighters, I guess the idea has its good points. Either way it is decided, we won't have to cross that bridge for a while.

When it comes to determinining if a fighter is "retired" or not, I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are concerning inactive fighters. How do guys feel about setting a certain number of inactive seasons (maybe 3 or 4) before a fighter is officially "retired" without actually passing through each career stage. I'm sure this will only affect the lower rated fighters first. I'm sure there will be a lot of guys who fought back in Season 1, got dumped and have not fought since.

These guys would be considered "retired" at the end of either Season 4 or 5 (depending if we collectively decide on 3 or 4 years inactivity)

Any thoughts???

Yeah I also don't like the idea of recycling retired fighters.

If we decide to use your idea, then maybe we can only recycle the retired fighters who became retired due to being inactive for xxx seasons.? These fighters will have to stay retired for atleast 1 or 2 season before they can come back.

I've come up with a format for scheduling a ten week season with 24 teams. It involves three divisional matches plus four inter-divisional matches (two matches against each other division in your conference) and three inter-conference matches (one match against each division in the other conference).

The inter-divisional matches will be 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and
1v2, 2v1, 3v4, 4v3 based on the divisional alignment I posted (if it's accepted), while the inter-conference matchups will all be 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.

This means that all the best teams in the league will clash at least once during the season.

It was trickier than I expected to create, as I had to balance the three divisional matches and three inter-conference matches so that each team had three home matches and three road matches.

Once the new team names have been decided upon, I'll work on making the actual schedule.

Hey SAL, I was wondering hows the All-star voting coming along have the three missing owners gotten their votes in yet cause if you can get me the complete teams I'll run the match right after the championship matches are over.

Also, welcome to the UTBA Tommy, Cube, GForce, and JCWeb. I hope you enjoy getting your faces beaten in your first couple of seasons.

Thank you for the warm welcome guys!

This is going to fun. I'm really looking forward to it. A big thank you to the people that makes the league go around also. It would have been a lot easier for you to keep going as it was and still you bend backwards to find a way to expand. I really appreciate it.

Now, with this said I cahnge into my Utba alter ego. This guy has no friends within the league, only obstacles to conquer

Enjoy your first long and painful season .. it gets better in season 2! We have voted on a lot of rules to help make the first expansion season tough. That's why I was dead set against putting them and the second season teams in their own conference!

There are still several good fighters out there so start getting your roster ready!

No word from them yet but I'll go ahead and close the voting tonight.
I'll make the all-star teams official tonight and post it here. Then it will be in your hands Romy.

Plus, If you think about it these new guys first seasons are going to be far worse then what the last two sets of expansion teams faced. KC and Bear faced a bunch of teams who's rosters were still mainly made up of beginners and some pre-primers if they had expand to to the 105 cap early they could have competed. The next set were facing teams that were almost all pre-primers with a few prime fighters. These cats are going to be dealing with teams that have the majority of their fighters primed out.

Just thinking about what will happen when one of these teams face someone like Icetea who's whole team is pretty much at Prime with a bunch of beginners especially if they stay at the 95 cap. Ouch.

It makes no difference to me in anyway on how we set up the new divisions. I'll let all the owners fight this one out.

The only reason I suggested doing it this way is to give the newer teams a shot at the playoffs this next season. I don't expect one of our current expansion teams to turn it around next season and contend like the bear's did this season. If we mix the new teams in with the top powers in divsions, it will be at least 2 or more seasons before they can challenge.

Actually, I think that the new expansion teams will have a bit of an advantage over the previous batch for the following reason - there are plenty of quality discarded fighters in the pool available to them after the draft finishes. There is no reason for them to start the season w/ 16 beginner-level fighters. Picking up prime or pre-prime fighters (irregardless of their record) can only put them a step closer to being competitive.

I'm guessing that they can select "new" fighters for the higher rated slots, but can easily populate the middle-to-low rated ranks w/ UTBA veterans.

Welcome to the UTBA

Hm, I didn't think about that your right that will lessen the butt whippings if they go that route. Personally, I'm hoping one of them does go all beginners just to see how big the blowouts will be.

Gold All-Stars vs Silver All-Stars

UTBA All-Star Match

January 24th, 2007

=============================================
HW
(Silver Listed First)
Ken Norton UD12 Earnie Shavers

Peter Jackson TKO10 Earnie Shavers

Peter Jackson TKO9 Tony Tucker

Ken Norton UD12 Tony Tucker

=============================================

Scoreboard:
Gold All-Stars: 0-4 (0) = 0
Silver All-Stars: 4-0 (2) = 10

Silver takes the early lead behind great performances by their Heavies who handled the Gold HWs with ease.

=============================================
LHW

Prince Charles Williams KO4 Bob Foster

Matthew Saad Muhammad LKO10 Archie Moore

Matthew Saad Muhammad LKO8 Bob Foster

Prince Charles Williams LTKO11 Archie Moore

=============================================

Scoreboard:
Gold All-Stars: 3-5 (3) = 9
Silver All-Stars: 5-3 (3) = 13

Moore and Foster destroyed Muhammad dropping him 8 times combined and Moore also droped Williams 5 times on route to the TKO getting the Gold back into the match but Williams' huge KO over Foster ensures that the Silver holds the lead heading into the MWs.

=============================================

MW

Tony Zale LTKO11 Mickey Walker

Tony Zale TKO9 Dick Tiger

Jermain Taylor KO6 Dick Tiger

Jermain Taylor LTKO9 Mickey Walker

=============================================

Scoreboard:
Gold All-Stars: 5-7 (5) = 15
Silver All-Stars: 7-5 (5) = 19

Mickey did what Mickey does best and that is to crush his opposition however Dick Tiger was unable to hold up his end getting stopped twice by Zale and Taylor keeping the Silver lead at 4.

=============================================

WW

Johnny Saxton LKO2 Pipino Cuevas

Johnny Saxton Draw Lloyd Honeyghan

Marlon Starling LUD12 Lloyd Honeyghan

Marlon Starling LUD12 Pipino Cuevas

=============================================

Scoreboard:
Gold All-Stars: 8-7-1 (6) = 23
Silver All-Stars: 7-8-1 (5) = 20

The WWs come up huge for the Gold led by Pipino Cuevas who blitzed Saxton and came very close to stopping Starling to give the Gold their first lead of the match. Somewhere, Javier is doing the dance of joy in honor of his fellow Mexican's success.

=============================================

LW

Carlos Ortiz TKO5 Edwin Rosario

Carlos Ortiz MD12 Dave Charnley

Alexis Arguello UD12 Edwin Rosario

Alexis Arguello TKO1 Dave Charnley

=============================================

Scoreboard:
Gold All-Stars: 8-11-1 (6) = 23
Silver All-Stars: 11-8-1 (7) = 30

Alexis Arguello and Carlos Ortiz make sure that the Gold lead is short lived by sweeping Edwin Rosario and Dave Charnely. Alexis knowing he couldn't go a full 12 with Charnley, due to showing up in bad shape, decided instead to just blast him out as quickly as possible. He dropped Dave with his first punch and then forced the stoppage soon after.
=============================================

FW

Barry McGuigan LUD12 Bernard Taylor

Young Griffo LUD12 Jeff Fenech

Young Griffo LUD12 Bernard Taylor

Barry McGuigan TKO7 Jeff Fenech

=============================================

Scoreboard:
Gold All-Stars: 11-12-1 (6) = 29
Silver All-Stars: 12-11-1 (8) = 33

Bernard Taylor gave Barry McGuigan a boxing lesson for most of their match and Young Griffo's chin failed him as multiple KDs costed him two decisions letting Gold creep with 1 point. However, Barry redeemed himself as his power proved to be the difference in his match with Fenech giving him the stoppage and the Silver a 4 point lead with two weightclasses left.

=============================================

BW

Alfonso Zamora TKO10 Lupe Pintor

Jeff Chandler UD12 Lupe Pintor

Alfonso Zamora LKO8 Jose Medel

Jeff Chandler MD12 Jose Medel

=============================================

Scoreboard:
Gold All-Stars: 11-15-1 (7) = 32
Silver All-Stars: 15-11-1 (9) = 40

Jeff Chandler showed the heart and will of a champion as he pulled out the last round of a very tight fight with Jose Medel to get the Majority Decision and extend the Silver lead to 8. The Gold still has a shot at winning but they must sweep the Fly class.

=============================================

FLY

Pitchit Siriwat SD12 Guty Espadas

Jorge Arce LTKO4 Vic Darchinyan

Jorge Arce TKO12 Guty Espadas

Pitchit Siriwat LTKO12 Vic Darchinyan

=============================================

Scoreboard:
Gold All-Stars: 13-17-1 (9) = 38
Silver All-Stars: 17-13-1 (10) = 45

Having lose 4 of the last 5 rounds and down by 3 points on all scorecards Jorge Arce came out like a house on fire and scored what would have been a highly dramatic stoppage victory over Guty Espadas if Pitchit Siriwat hadn't easily outboxed Guty to seal the win for the Silver a couple fights earlier. Make no mistake Siriwat won that fight without any doubt the judge that scored it for Guty must have been drunk.

Congrats to the Silver for winning the first annual UTBA All Star match.
