Season 3: ROY Candidates - Gold Conference
Candidate #2:
Light Heavyweight - Roy Jones Jr (The Dublin Guards) Season 3 Record: 14-4-2 (11) Roy Jones Jr is one of the founding members of The Dublin Guards expansion team. As one of the only four Guards to finish the season with a winning record, he clearly left a positive impresson on the rest of the LHW division. Roy did not have a chance to fight for the LHW Title and hopes to get it in the EOY Tournament. Roy Jones Jr heads into the LHW EOY Tournament as the #8 Seed. SEASON 3 HIGHLIGHTS:

Season 3: ROY Candidates - Gold Conference
Candidate #3:
Flyweight - Santos Laciar (Brazilian Barbarians) Season 3 Record: 14-3-3 (3) Santos Laciar was drafted by the Brazilian Barbarians as the #1 Pick of the 2nd Round (#17 Overall). The pick was aquired by the Barbarians in a trade w/ the Oakland Assassins prior to the draft. He aquitted himself well in his rookie season but was unsuccessful when given a shot at the FLY Title. Santos feels that the valuable experience gained this season will give him a good chance for a 2nd Title shot in the FLY EOY Tournament. Santos Laciar heads into the FLY EOY Tournament as the #7 Seed. SEASON 3 HIGHLIGHTS:

Season 3: ROY Candidates - Gold Conference
Candidate #4:
Heavyweight - Earnie Shavers (Left Jab Inc) Season 3 Record: 15-5-0 (14) Earnie Shavers is one of the founding members of the expansion Left Jab Inc team. He stormed through his first UTBA season as a wrecking ball winning all but 1 of his fights by knockout. In fact in 20 bouts, he only went the distance twice. A fight with Earnie Shavers will never be boring. His one regret this season was that he was not given a chance to fight for the HW Title. He hopes to rectify that in the HW EOY Tournament. Earnie Shavers heads into the LHW EOY Tournament as the #10 Seed. SEASON 3 HIGHLIGHTS:

Season 3: ROY Candidates - Gold Conference
Candidate #5:
Middleweight - Dick Tiger (Muckboys) Season 3 Record: 16-2-2 (5) Originally a founding member of UTBA Commissioner SAL's McCune Mitt Slingers expansion team, Dick Tiger was shipped off to the Muckboys at the end of Week 7. He was unsuccessful in an attempt to win the MW Title. As part of the Muckboys roster, he finished the season 5-0-1 (0) and vastly improved a glaring weakness on the team. Dick has high expectations heading into the MW EOY Tournament. Dick Tiger heads into the MW EOY Tournament as the #4 Seed. SEASON 3 HIGHLIGHTS:

Congrats to Tosti and the Crusaders for winning the championship in one heck of a match. Congrats also to BigMatt for an excellent effort in the final round
I see that all but one of the season records the Muckboys set last year have been broken that sucks.

Season 3: ROY Candidates - Gold Conference
Candidate #6:
Light Heavyweight - Archie Moore (Bear's Unstable) Season 3 Record: 18-2-0 (16) Archie Moore was selected as the #2 overall pick in the Draft by Bear's Unstable and sure lived up to the hype. It did not take him long to emerge as the clear leader on the much improved Unstable squad. Heading into his first LHW EOY Tournament, Archie has only one goal - win it all and bring the LHW Title back home to the Unstable. Archie Moore heads into the LHW EOY Tournament as the #5 Seed. Hey Dave, you marked that last one as Roy Jones Jr. instead of Archie Moore. Man, I don't like Dick Tiger's chances of winning the ROY.

I'll try and post the Silver ROY Candidates tomorrow. I've got to pack it in early tonight. I'm heading out really early tomorrow w/ my dad down to New Haven to watch the implosion/demolition of the "world famous" New Haven Veterans Memorial Colesium @ 7:30am. I've got a hook-up in one of the nearby buildings and should have a good view.
It's been quite an eyesore for the last several years and its demolition is going to be quite an event for New Haven. |

HA, Yes I was the only person to suffer a net loss in winning percentages. I am the greatest.

Congrats to Cawkney and the Beavers on great seasons. Great championship match. Beavers almost came back from that disastrous first half of the match. Looking forward to the individual tourneys now. I will say once again..thanks for letting Left Jab Inc. be a part of this great league. I had a blast get blasted...lol. Take care and dont forget the nice HBO doubleheader tonite. Hatton/Urango and Castillo/Ngoudjo. Ngoudjo is undefeated but relatively untested, his toughest fight was against Augustus(many thought Emanuel won)but some think he may make Castillo work a little. Peace.

I just want to send out my congratulations again to Tom and his Crusaders. Not only did his team win the team title, but he has done it running his team 1 point under the cap for two seasons now.

As the results built, I had a feeling it might come down to Ike vs. Tommy. Sure enough Farr sealed the deal for Cawkney. Looks like my gambit to ignore the Flys entirely came back to haunt me at the end, as not only did they lose their bouts, they gave up big points doing so in pathetic fashion. Oh, and true to Romy's prediction, the Beavers got a nice helping of nothing from Jhonny G., who not only couldn't finish against the admittedly tough Jeff Chandler, but also got dumped by a guy rated 2 levels below him... Quote:

Bernard Taylor earns the post-season MVP for the Beavers - his flawless 4-0 record coming against tough customers like Terry McGovern and Howard Winstone. Another postseason bright spot for the Beavers was Carruthers showing some life - even grabbing a draw against virtually-unbeatable Jeff Chandler. Management is now more inclined to keep him on for another tour of duty in season 4 as a result. Oh, and how about Mando Ramos, champion of the world for 1 whole fight? Jimmy Watt had an opportunity to rest the strap away from Dave Green - I'll have to see what that TD3 was all about. Thanks again to Scot for yeoman's work at the helm, and to umk, Romy and Dave for your ongoing contributions. Looking forward to season 4! Last edited by bigMatt; 01-20-2007 at 12:56 PM. |
