Chelsea have a budget that embarrases the Yankees while Wigan have a Devil Ray budget. Kinda an unfair matchup.

Rugby territory? That sounds like a dangerous place for them to be stuck in. I don't know much about Rugby, but from what I've seen that must be the English sports equivalent of being the Warriors trapped in Orphans territory. I hope they make back home alive after this game.

And yet the Latics have played Chelsea close in recent matches only to see some assassin steal away their life in the final minutes, take that Robben goal in their previous meeting for example. Rotten luck or ill health or a combonaiton of the two seem to victimize Wigan when Chelsea is the opponent.

MLS/Primera officially announce the SuperLiga. Its nice to have it starting out, but I hope they're planning on making this semi-season long with hopefully 12/16 teams in the future. Hopefully they'll have games being played during the week along with MLS games and the usual weekend fixtures as I was led to believe earlier.

Wigan were formed in 1932 and didn't get into the Premiership until last season, they have to tap into the same fan base as 6 other Premiership teams who are all within 30 miles and were all founded around 100 years ago that's not even counting the numerous teams from the other divisions that are within 30 miles of Wigan.

Take away all the history the Yankees have and make them a team that was formed in 1932 and only became an MLB team last year and have 6 other MLB teams within a 30 minute drive of which all have already tapped into their fanbase and I wonder how well known the Yankees would be.

This is how much the teams were worth when Chelsea played Wigan the other day, a few of the Chelsea players were actualy worth more than the Wigan line up.

The two unknowns for Wigan were undisclosed fee's but your probably looking at around £2,000,000 for Kirkland and £500,000 - £1,000,000 at most for Cwyka.

The name Wigan can be put down to two versions of where it comes from, 1 Comes from the 7th century from Celtic origins and is translated to mean "village" or "settlement" or 2 Which comes from the Anglo-Saxon "wig" which means fight which could fit in as Wigan as many battles have taken place around Wigan from Roman times through King Arthur times and the English Civil war period.
