Upper Deck Baseball League
Ironically, APujols wasn't the only one thinking of a "daily" league. The Upper Deck Baseball League (UDBL, http://sec-football.net/ootp) is an OOTP2006 modern day OOTP league that sims one day of games, every day. Here are the details on the league.
*24 teams, starting with an inaugural draft I've deleted six teams from the league, and we will be starting with a 15 round initial draft on the message board, allowing owners to build their franchise the way they want it. Because the league will be moving very slowly, I wanted to eliminate having "bad teams" in the league. If all owners have a team they hand picked, they are more inclined to stick through the hard times and turn it around. Teams as a whole will have more talent on them, and every season should be a great battle. *Re-alignment = More Competition The league is divided into the usual two AL and NL leagues, with three divisions, but now every division only has four teams in it. One out of every four teams will win the division, and an additional team will make the playoffs every season. With thirty-three percent of the league making the playoffs, there should be great pennant races every season. *Fair Play Resembles NFL The most important feature of this league that I had pictured, was equality. To ensure that all teams are equal, all fanbases will start and maintain equality throughout the league. While it's fun to rebuild the Florida Marlins in a fast paced league, I do not want any owners suffering for five years (real time) trying to get that fan support back up to 30. Also, salary caps and basements will be used to keep an even footing on spending, as well as even revenue. Each team will have an equal "bankroll" every season to determine their free agent money in the off-season. We're basically removing financials from the game and putting it in our own hands. The idea of the league is that every team has a flourishing market, and every team will have an equal chance at getting a free agent (with a winning program being the only difference). Lack of money will not be an issue (unless you run into cap issues). *Modifications to the Rulebook While we have the basic rulebook to give owners a general consensus on what things are being done, rules may be added to the rulebook to give a more Democratic approach to the league. The basic rules that are up will remain up (to prevent anarchy), but any additional rules can be voted in. *Flexible Lineup Submissions With simming at a slow pace, owners are not required to export every day, rather every week. Infact, I encourage owners not to download the league file every day as it takes up bandwidth. All we ask for is a lineup submission once a week, making it extremely easy to maintain with league happenings. However, if an injury/transaction on your team occurs, we expect an immediate lineup submission. We ask that you remain active, but this league is not one that will take 30 minutes of your life every day (unless you want it to). The best part of this league will be logging in the morning, seeing on the front page that David Eckstein hit a walk-off three run homer to give you the win, and then logging out two minutes later. So with that being said, we are looking to fill this thing up. Since it is the holiday season, recruiting for owners will last at least 10 days. Send all inquiry's to loansandgroans@yahoo.com, and please include a name and email to contact you back with. All teams on the front page are available (I'm running with the Pirates), and both leagues will vote on a DH. NOTE: The game is required!!! |

Sorry, I prefer that if I'm taking the time to actually run this thing that you do the company a little favor and save lunch money/paychecks/whatever until you have $30.
![]() Hopefully people will give this idea a shot (we already have a few applications), as it is a unique way to enjoy OOTP. |

We've had an amazing two applications so far. People just aren't playing OOTP, or does this league idea stink?
Would a real roster, sim three times a week league be more popular? Last edited by Sandy K; 12-28-2006 at 09:04 PM. |

I'll sign on
Veteran sim leaguer who owns the game would be more than happy to sign up. The league link isn't working for me. I'll take whatever team is available, but Twins and Padres would be nice. Email is Mikecouil@aol.com
