Charlton fans get an early Christmas present as Alan Pardew takes charge at The Valley.

Went to Old Trafford today watching Man Utd v Wigan Ath, over 76,000 but yet one of the worst atmospheres I've ever seen. There's around 72,000 United fans in that stadium and they should be ashamed, they should be scaring teams to death with that support but it's like a Sunday church outing.
Have to say although United totally deserved their win they were very scrappy against a Wigan team without De Zeuuw, Valencia and Camara 3 of our best players, Man U only came to life when Ronaldo came on in the second half. Watch out for a player called David Cotterill, joined Latics from Bristol City so a big step up in quality but doesn't look out of place, if Wigan stay in the Prem which we shoud do just by the skin of our teeth look for him to have a big season next year. |

What is the highest transfer fee ever paid by a MLS club for a player?

With what I can gather it could even be a secret lol, Toronto signed Greg Sutton and this is a quote "MLS paid a transfer fee to acquire Sutton, though per MLS policy, neither the fee nor the particulars of Sutton's contract have been disclosed"

Hmm
In my FM world Chiva USA just bid 6.8 million USD for a 19 year old midfielder from club Cardiff City I have had my eye on him for a while. He was a regen who started off in the USA and was snapped up by Cardiff rather quickly. He was then loaned out to league two side Wycombe and played better as the season went along. He has just a handful of matches on the Championship and so far has not played very well there. Injuries and being transfered have cut into his playing time. Im hoping he settles down somewhere for a few years and can start playing on a regular basis. My scouts tell me he has the potential ability to equal Kaka Interesting to see if Chivas can land him. I was hoping we would play a few years in the MLS before going to Europe In my FM playing days, that is the largest bid I have seen a MLS side make. Chivas must have a bit of money in reserve to make bids like that. |

I don't think any team has held Cristiano Ronaldo at bay for a whole 90 minutes this season. Awesome win for Manchester United. Oh, and did anyone see the Paul Scholes screamer against Aston Villa? That was a thing of beauty.

United fans used to be the best around but some things have changed the last few years, the takeover may have only cost them a few fans the ones that started the breakaway team up but they were hardcore fans. Cost of going to a game specially on a constant basis is out of the reach of alot of fans, so what you get now is what Roy Keane described as the "Prawn Sandwich" type of fan aka the corporate type. This is why if you go down the leagues the quality of football may go down but the atmosphere is always better, I'd advise anybody visiting England to go watch a lower league game and contact the supporters club before, that way you'll know where to stand (don't sit for God's sake) to get the best feel of what football is about. |

Why didn't they give their tickets away, it wouldn't have made any difference to them would it. Few of my friends have season tickets for Wigan, Man Utd, Liverpool and Man City and I often get phone calls saying do I want to go because they can't for some reason or another. Get them a couple of beers which they wouldn't have got anyways and I get a cheap game. |

Charlton drew against Fulham, pity they couldn't hang on for the win. Not a big fan of Pardew's personally think he's a big head who gives few if any compliments to his team as he takes all the glory for himself, although hope Charlton don't go down as the way he's been treated is nothing but disgusting and would rather see West Ham go down.
Note to Charltons stadium announcer dust off a copy of Alanis Morissete's "Ironic", could come in handy for the game against West Ham. |

Why don't more teams play a 4-3-3? I can only imagine the score fests teams would have if more teams played with a 3rd striker.
