CubbyFan's 2007 Roster Discussion Thread (Link Inside)

Sorry if you guys don't want two threads about this, but I know not many people check the Mods forums anymore. If this is too redundant, feel free to delete the one in General Discussion and have my apologies!

Here's my newest release of my rosters! Included in these are up to date stats from our last season. All transactions (up to the Vidro deal, including most minor league deals as well), salaries, etc. are up to date.

Just a few notes:
- Minor leagues, outside of AAA, have not been done very much. While I realize this was a problem with the 2006 rosters, I now have 4-5 months to finish them rather than 7 days, so it should be easier this go around.

- Ratings are largely based on 2006 stats and nothing else. Thus, flukey seasons are going to see some players overrated too much. Players are going to be re-rated based on a projection system (whether it be Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA system, or another) so this should be fixed later. For now, I had nothing else to go off of.

- Prospects who are done, are a bit overrated for their potential stats, since once again, the ratings look too small for some players because they fall in line with the projected statistics in the editor screen. This will be fixed for the next release, but you might see some players down the line who take over. I haven't gotten a chance to test this much.

- I tried to include all of the manager facepacks, logo setups for the teams, etc. to make it look a bit better. Some of these are off as teams switched minor league teams around. Please let me know if you see some.

- For the setup, I have turned off creation of boxscores, logs, and auto-save. Turn this on if you want to use this. All other options are ON, so if you don't want waivers, 40 man, DFA's, etc. make sure to turn it off before hand.

Lastly, there was a big problem (well not big) but a wierd problem with the league totals where I had to drop the BB number WAY down (44) to get accurate results. I tested it through, but if it results in wierd numbers in the second year, we may have to find another solution.

For those interested, I am going to be diving into the minors now, starting in reverse order (rookie ball to AAA). I'd like to give the majors and AAA a little more time to shake out with the new Lahman database not out yet, PECOTA not out yet, and a bunch of signings still to take place. Hopefully we have a good start here though for you guys to play around with until I can get something more concrete out!

Oh also, no one has hometowns set yet! I'm doing this player-by-player as I create them in the minors, and will go back and hit the majors later. A more cosmetic thing IMO that doesn't need to be done quite yet.

Enjoy.

You might as well save your time on Hometown's Cubby. OOTP won't register them right anyways. Hopefully it will be fixed for 07

I always forget something! You might want to have the computer re-configure financials for teams upon starting a league, as some of the teams are way above (or below) balance by 10-20M.

Cubby...

Question for you... I had some time tonight and really starting looking at your rosters. I am finding tons of guys in the wrong places... SO I am wondering if you are looking for legit constructive comments about your set or not?

Absolutely!

If you are finding them at levels other than MLB/AAA I am not worrying about them though as I am re-doing the minors rosters completely (deleting everyone and re-creating them on their 2006 ending rosters + minor league transactions).

Major league teams should be 100 pct. accurate with players in the right organization, and AAA should be pretty darn close. If you see some guys, please mention them in here!

New roster update should be out tonight or tomorrow. Not a ton of changes, but I have fixed some problems with the first release (team payrolls, few guys in the wrong spots, etc.), added transactions up to date, and also I've finished the entire Arizona Diamondbacks organization (ratings done for guys from MLB to Rookie ball, including hometowns, correct positions, speeds, ratings, and roster levels) so you guys can get a sneak peek at what the final version will include for all thirty teams.

Prospect potentials have not been really accurately re-rated for Arizona, because the new Top 10 from BA is not out yet, and I will be basing projections on 2006 Top 30's, and not 2007 ones. So there is some guys who might slip through the cracks who broke out in 2006 that are rated poorly in this set, that will be changed when I get the new BA Top 30 book for 2007!

Hey Cubby,
I'm kinda curious as how you are able to set the hometowns correctly? Markus has said it's a known issue that he hopes to be able to fix in OOTP 07.... So as of now there's no way to set them correctly in the game. I am not sure how the game decides what city to use. But anytime there's a city in multiple states, it will only use one state for any reference of that city.

Example... Jim Thome is from Peoria IL but will always show up as being from Peoria AZ in OOTP 06.
So if you found a workaround, I would be really curious

I'm finding many, many duplications of players, from Chris Aguila to David Wells. Is this a problem on my end?

The initial batch of the file was from OOTP 6, in which there was an issue with retired players. The "duplicate" player is not active, cannot be signed by anyone, but is just duplicate in the database. I am clearing all of those up for the 2007 file.

And the payrolls are fixed in the new version (which I hope to have out tomorrow).

Hope that clears things up.

mac issues?

Is there any of these that are able to be used by a mac
i've tried loads of searches but it's really hard to find because of the "demo, PC Patch and Mac versions" that's at the top of every page!
