When will you buy ?

With the problems of release day of TDCB how many of you are going to delay purchase of OOTP5 ? I am going to TRY to wait for a few days to see how it is going... Of course, I am really looking forward to this release so I may cave and be buying at noon on Friday ?

While I understand why people might have fears about OOTP5, because of what happened with TDCB. But you have to consider that the two games have two different people programming them, and that OOTP has never had a history of bugs comparible to TDCB(from my experience with OOTP3, and OOTP4).

I'm sending my money order to ViaTech today.

I'll guess I'll wait for the cd-rom version, then wait for that to drop to $20 at the end of the MLB season. Hopefully OOTP3 will tide me over till then...

I'll wait about a month to see what has been added and to see what the gamers think about this version.

I'm disappointed the minors are not complete and fullblown with game play.

The Almanac sounds great...minor and post season stats sounds great.

I hope they have added all of the normal, everyday plays that were missing from OOTP4.

All in all, it's still a great game designed and supported by fine people. I know of no one better.

Release day, right at noon I will be staring at the download screen....... YOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Now that HH2004 doesn't have the manage only mode looks like my entire baseball sim time will be with OOTP5 this year.

Food for thought to those who will wait because they want bugs to be ironed out:

If you get the game right away, you can be an active contributor to the "post-beta beta" process. Judging by the v4 release... the game comes out and it kinda goes into public beta-testing... people play with the game... post problems here that the betas didn't run into (no game is perfect, right?)... and many get fixed. And since the patches are free, you've got nothing to lose.

IIRC, Markus had 2 patches out by the night of the release last year... and a couple more by the end of the first week.

Just something to think about.

Edit- I should mention... I don't mean features that you wish were there... I mean bugs that might not have cropped up during testing.

This is true...good point, JML.

Despite the problems TDCB had, I plan on downloading v5 as soon as it's available. I've been really bored lately, and I think OOTP5 is just what the doctor ordered!
