Burke is going to play CF.
Now the Rockies get a CF that didn't have to sign as a Free-Agent.
Now have a logjam as to backup Outfielders meaning somebody will be trade probley.

Nah. 2006 is the outlier. If Gary Mathews, Jr. sucks one year, sucks one year, sucks one year, sucks one year and then is good one year, that doesn't mean that you should assume that now he's good. By the same principle, Coors Field is not different because of 2006. You should build the team for the way the stadium played from 1995-2005.

I do agree that his defensive value increases in Coors Field over Minute Maid, but not nearly enough to outweigh the decrease in his offensive value.

You mean Jennings?

Rockies are definitely selling high.

Well, the Rockies know what goes into the park factor - it is artificial, in part, and they create it. And, they can control it. So, they can predict the 2007 park factor better than you or I b/c they know to what degree they will be using the humidor, etc.

I think this is a pretty good deal for the Astros. The fans are just upset, I think, b/c Buchholz was once expected to do a lot more, was part of the Wagner deal (which was a bad trade).

That has a small part in it, but I think one of the major reasons is just how overrated Taveras is. I've heard some people refer to him as a franchise player, and one of the best leadoff men in the league

It doesn't make sense to judge the trade based on Taveraz. He's more like a throw in for the Jennings for Hirsch trade.

i guess that depends on your perception of Taveras.

if someone thinks he is the franchise player and best leadoff man in the game, then they probably think Hirsch is the throw-in.

not that i think that. just saying, is all.

Some might think Taveras is great, but they also believe Hirsch is nothing but a throw-in?

I would describe it more as 'argued with them' than 'listened to them'.

Of course, a point could be made that I should be arguing with smarter people too

Burke isn't that great of a CF option defensively. He has shown some flashes of a glove out there but he wasn't really consistent.

Love this trade for the Rocks,

Taveras is a solid CF option and Hirsch should end up being better than Jennings in the end. and Buchholz should help replace Jennings next season

I agree here.Im more upset of Hirsh leaving though. He was supposed to be a #1 or 2 guy. And Buchholz was supposed to be a #2 or 3 guy. Hirsh didnt impress me too much last season but hes got tons of potential. I really liked Buchholz and Im sad to see him go. He was listed as the "next Roy Oswalt".

Burke's athletic enough to handle centerfield. He's no Willy Taveras. Defensively, the main concern is that his arm doesn't play well in the outfield. The other concern is whether he can play the position without getting injured all the time.

If he hits .280 with 10 or 15 home runs and 20 or 30 stolen bases, with some walks and can stay healthy, i'll be happy.

i can't wait for him to move to second base permanently though.
