Another interesting aside is that Manchester United will now have played two of their three group opponents from last season - Benfica and now Lille (Villarreal are the other one, and they didn't qualify for either European competition this season).

Barcelona have travelled all over the world this year..Los Angeles, Tokyo, etc. They will most likely lose to Liverpool as the weight of their schedule starts to take its toll.

I think ESPN has a monopoly on the Champions Leagut telecasts..at least outside of Europe.

It's a more confusing situation here, so I won't bore you by trying to explain it. Basically if you have SKY's satellite service you can see all the games, if you have cable you can only see 6 per week.

Tuesday's games are shared between terrestrial broadcaster ITV and pay tv broadcaster SKY Sports.
ITV show two games (up to quarterfinals and then it is one), and SKY Sports show the remaining games. On Wednesday, SKY Sports have rights to all the games. On both days, SKY Sports show two games via their actual channels (occasionally three when a Russian team plays at home, as these games kickoff before the rest), and the remaining games are shown via an interactive service. This is only offered to SKY Digital (satellite) subscribers, and not to cable companies like ntl:Telewest (currently separate companies, but soon to merge into one), so it's an exclusive "selling point" for the SKY service. All the games involving English clubs are shown either on ITV or SKY Sports's actual channels. So in this round, on Wednesday the two English games will be shown on SKY Sports with the remaining two shown via the red button interactive service (not available to cable). On Tuesday this will not be a problem as there will be four channels showing games. Last edited by Sdpm100; 12-15-2006 at 07:55 AM. |

You almost need a PhD to understand the footie TV schedule.
Auckland really needs some bettre coaching..in all aspects of the game. Their fitness really isnt good enough to play at a decent level for 90 minutes.

In fact it's likely the Oceania champion will be kicked out of the tournament to be replaced by the J.League champions next year. |
