I like that in that 1993 list, four of those guys are big players on the Red Sox (Manny, Damon, Pedro, Lowe). And most likely, a lot of people looked at that list in 1996 and thought most of it was a huge bust. Look back on a prospect list in 10 years, not 4. (In the 95 list, you got Damon, Nomar, Trot Nixon, and Todd Walker - I also find that interesting).

A name to watch for is Josh Phelps. He's taking the same path as Delgado. Coming up as a catcher with a lot of pop, then being shifted to a 1B-DH role so he can play everyday and avoid those nagging injuries. He already showed he can hit in last year's limited action.

Well personally I'd rather win 93 and finish in 2nd then 75 and finish in last - but whatever helps you Met fans sleep at night.

Hell, the Mets have/had a lot of players on that list, and nothing came of it. So try to poke fun all you want it, doesn't really matter.

And for the record, there is no Curse. It's crap and an excuse some Red Sox fans use that some writer (I know his name but I'd just misspell it badly) made up to make some money.

hey maness, something tells me langerhans isn't going to do all that well in the majors. He's not very highly rated anymore and hasn't put up that great numbers the past couple years. I've been following Betemit who is supposed to do big things though.

Betemit will be a fine player as long as he learns a bit more control of the strike zone. Two years ago he seemed to be making progress but fell off in that regard last season. On the surface his season looks pretty awful, but if you consider he was young for the level and was hurt for most of the first half, it looks decent. Once he was healthy he put up decent numbers in the second half. He will most definately need to control the strike zone though. Alfonso Soriano is very much the exception in this regard.

I still have a Marc Barcelo card. He is #70 on that list. Would like to see where he is right now.

If I was 45, sure. But I had just turned 2 in 1986, so it doesn't bother me much at all. I mean, of course naturally as a Sox fan I dislike it - but it doesn't rip me to pieces everytime I see it.

Mets wont be winning any World Series anytime soon (got to get through the Braves). Red Sox have a better chance this year than the Mets. This year is the only year that matters!!!

I don't think anybody is worrying about the Braves, frankly.

Funny coming from a Mets fan, when the Mets have a higher payroll than the Braves!!

Braves will make the playoffs again for the 13th straight time!! Also this year they will have Ortiz and Hampton who are clutch pitchers. Glavine was not, he only had one real good postseason and that was in 95. Personally i think the reason why the braves have lost in the playoffs so much is b/c their pitching doesnt scare anybody (offense wasnt that good either), they didnt have a power pitcher especially since Smoltz wasnt there. Glavine and Maddux are great, but they do most of their damage against teams that are too impatient, in the playoffs that does not happen that much.

Jmaness, are you sure you aren't Phil Rogers or Skip Bayless in disguise ? Does logic enter into the fray ? Ortiz and Hampton are clutch players ? Firstly, "clutch " exists mainly in the mind of idiot sportswriters who have run out of cliches. Secondly, an era over 6 is not "clutch" or even below average.... its god-awful.
I really think that if Maddux or Glavine pitching during the 90's didnt scare you, you must be a) the best goddamn hitter around or b) mad. Please follow some sort of logical path in these arguements. I know Im being an ass, but this is really devoid of anything remotely factual or accurate.
