Boxing Bios, TBCB News, Misc.

Hello all:

A note to the four of you who purchased the Boxing Biographies. You'll be receiving the first update soon; it just contains some corrected information and updated material on all the heavyweights who have fought since the first publication was released.

I'll also be posting an article this week that breaks down Hector Camacho's career. Here's a fighter who went through a number of "transformations" throughout his sometimes bizzare career. Look for it toward the end of the week.

Here's a look at our plans for the boxing game:

There will be, in the "relatively near future (read 2-3 months) a new version of the current game. It will contain a new database, one in which old fighters will be added, recently retire fighters will receive careeer ratings, and many new fighters -- at last count over 50 -- will be added. Additionally, the last of the "bugs" should be erradicated; and finally, some graphic overhauls, including the much anticipated color-coded fighters (black vs. black; white vs. white; black vs. white), will make their debuts. Now none of this is etched in stone but you could bet on 95% of this to be gospel.

Then, hopefully by this time next year, the full-blown Title Bout III or Fight Manager will actually come to pass. This would basically be a complete role-playing game merged with the existing simulation. It's far too early to even speculate about all the features; however, I wanted to mention it so that those of you who so populate these boards - and have remained so loyal to the game and to us - knew that we hadn't thrown in the towel on this aspect of the product.

Take care and Happy Holidays.

Jim

Thanks for checking in Jim ... any thought to adding up dated ratings to all of your bios?

As a show of support and hopes that you make more visits to the board for updates ... I just made it 5!

Jim, do you have any idea how much the new version of the present game will cost? I have to start collecting those empty pop bottles. If it's to be a freebie, I'll be sure to send along a little something anyway. Psst! Anyone have change for a fiver?

I was assuming that it would be another patch ... but like I said with the fighter updates, I'd be willing to pay for them.

I will say if that will be the case then it should be divided. An update fighter disk that we are paying for and a patch to the game which we are not, so it's clear that we aren't paying for a patch (to keep all the crybabies at bay)

So if I buy this heavyweight bio thing will it come as the latest version or the original one? Like will I need to have 2 emails, one original and then an update one? I think I'm going to buy it tomorrow when I get chance

Forget my last post/question, I bought it anyway, thanks a lot Jim for your work on it. I do actually have a good knowledge on the heavyweights but for £4.26 or something silly I can't really pass on this one!

I bought it this morning but have yet to receive the email. A web-based set of bios that unlock with a password would be preferable but I am looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah waiting on mine too .. won't read it until I am bored at work. I still say it would be a big seller if he included updated ratings for each fighter profiled. Looking forward to reading what he writes about Tye Field. I've liked ever since I saw him fight at Sky Ute Casino out in Colorado a few years back.

What happened to the "modules" idea?

Those were mentioned as being 'finalized' in September and are now, if I understand the latest missive, 'far too early to even speculate about'.

I ran it through babblefish but it unfortunately came out the same way.

Pretty well covers it Antonin.

I think the "far too early to speculate" just means what will all be in the next version. I believe you will see everything talked about in his September post but he isn't sure what else will go into it.

This is really old hat guys, but this is one of the few times Jim has come with a timetable that actually makes sense so cut him so slack. Some wonder why he doesn't post more often!

Pretty well covers in Antonin.
"...Pretty well covers in Antonin???" Where's my cypher book? Hmmm. Nope don't see this anywhere. What is correct response to this flash?

As for Jim's post, let's all pretend he was having a wee dram when he wrote it and let it pass. Then we'll all be happily surprised when we wake up one morning and find it under the OOTP tree....

'in' obviously should have been 'it' Cap but thanks for keeping me on my grammatical toes.

For anyone that ordered Jim's HW bio pdf file, how long did it take to receive your copy?
