Yep, that's what Wiki says. I wouldn't know as I'm only a fan, not a fanatic (again according to Wiki ).

On the Manhattan Beach famous residents section, one of them is the tennis hothead himself - Jeff Tarango.

He had to park the 4x4 on the street only had room in the drive for his Jag, kinda weird to see a celeb having to park his car on the street like most of us normal people.

I'd rate both the Prague teams and FC Ameri (Georgia) as the top 3 I've found so far.

It's surprising, to me at least, that a number of east European teams have sites translated in English. I'm not really sure why.

You need to be fairly well off to live there as its a beach community. Id like to live there myself one day.

I bet it must have been weird to "see that guy that Paul from the OOTP forums likes" as well.

Gibraltar are halfway in to UEFA.

Quote:
Gibraltar was admitted as a provisional member of UEFA on Friday.

The Executive Committee of European soccer's ruling body said in a statement they had "no choice" but to allow the disputed territory provisional membership following an earlier decision by CAS, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, in July.

The statement also pointed out that FIFA, world soccer's governing body, had determined earlier this week that Gibraltar "does not meet the statutory requirements to become a FIFA member."

As a result of Friday's decision, Gibraltar's application for full membership is now set to be discussed at UEFA's Congress in Dusseldorf in January.

The application is rigorously opposed by Spain which claims sovereignty over the British-controlled territory.

UEFA Chief executive Lars-Christer Olsson told a media conference that the Executive Committee was not in favour of Gibraltar's full membership but that its hands were effectively tied by the CAS decision.

"Theoretically we could have said no," Olsson said.

"But when you have a legal structure which recognises CAS as the Supreme Court in sporting matters then it would have been strange to recognise the court but not follow its decision."

Be interesting to see a) if the board allows them in, and b) what Spain do if they do get admitted.

Alot of the Eastern European teams do which kind of puts some teams to shame specially Dutch and French teams although the French shouldn't be a surprise but the Dutch teams are.

No, I haven't yet. But the story behind it is fascinating, and very sad at the same time.

I got it the other day just started to read it, was wondering about what you thought of it but seeing you haven't read it first chapter is ok, talks about how the Ukraine was invaded 100's of years ago, probably painting the picture for the German invasion. Good book though, you should get it as it's selling cheap on Amazon.

Yeah I just had a look on Amazon. It also recommended a book about Ajax during WWII, which I have a feeling someone mentioned before here as well. I'm not sure if it was you.

Didn't Spain threaten to not compete in tournaments if they were allowed in ? if so I hope they get in and Spain go through with their threat.

Yes that's right. I heard on the radio that a World (or European) Championship (I think it was tenpin bowling) was moved from Barcelona to Luxembourg because the Spanish wouldn't allow the Gibraltese team to play on their soil.

EDIT - it was the European Tenpin Bowling Championship http://www.guardian.co.uk/spain/arti...927985,00.html

making websites in English is a good marketing ploy.

Nope wasn't me, put it on my list though. I have my eye on two others, one is Tor a book about German football and Passovotchka about Dynamo Moscow's tour of Britain in 1945.

One book I would recomend is Behind the Curtain.

A very interesting and humourous football book I've read is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Futebol-Braz...019005-9110323

It looks at how Brazilians live, breathe and sleep the game. It's quite a long read though.

I enjoy Eastern European football always have, got into it years ago when you used to wait for the European Cup results at night (no internety thing then and no sky sports) and you'd listen to exotic names like Dynamo, Spartak, Lokomotiv and so on, then Wigan played a friendly against Torpedo Moscow and although it was the worst game I've ever seen it was also the greatest seeing these Russian named players actually play in front of you.

Amazon have some really good cheap books on offer, I used to buy from sportpages but they get a bit expensive. if there a long book I sometimes have two on the go at the same time, Behind the Curtain is a fairly long book so I have that and the Dynamo book on the go at the same time.

I'm not sure where I got mine from, but it was from a "by mail" company. I got that Brazilian book at the same time as the NASL one that I've mentioned before.
