just think if we would of hung onto those guys, and Johan and we had Schilling (when he was a prospect) at one point also.

Not to mention Bobby Abreu. And we lost Ken Caminiti and Luis Gonzalez in their prime.

Id be willing to part with Burke for Peavy depending on who the prospects were in the deal. I would not give up Burke for Jennings though. Peavy is a top of the rotation guy, Jennings is.. well hes better than wandy. I wouldnt mind having him if we had Petitte back too.

ROFL, how quickly they forget.

Johnson went 10-1 with a 1.28 ERA in 11 starts with Houston. He then had a 1.93 ERA in 2 post-season starts, but went 0-2 because the Astros developed an allergic reaction to home plate every October in the late 90's.

I'm not sure if he was worth the 3 players they gave up for him, but to say Johnson was anything less than brilliant is a fallacy.

According to the Chron. the talks with the Rockies about Jennings have stalled because they were trying to bring Hirsh into the picture.

i see him going to the yanks if we cant get one more player to help out this team.(pitching wise) Our pitching and our offense arent good enough to be a contender.

I hope he stays in Houston. I would like at least one out of he and the Rocket to stay. Both would be nice but one would work for me with the addition of Woody Williams.

Actually it was Kevin Brown and the Padres the Astros ran into that year not the Braves. Johnson was brillant for them. The Padres and Brown were just incrediably hot that year. Brown was just filthy during the late 90s.

'Stros are set to announce they've traded for Jon Garland. Willy Taveras and Taylor Buchholz are rumored to be part of the deal.
In another story from Rosenthal, he said it would be willy t, buchholz AND Hirsh. But i cant possible see us giving up Hirsh also, and if that is the case then no deal. I hate to see willy t go. But Garland is needed in Houston.

Sounds to me like the deal is pretty much on hold. Chicago wants Hirsch and Houston doesn't want to give him up. Looks like a pretty big obstacle to me.

According to this link, the deal for Garland is practically dead because Buchholz allegedly failed a physical.

he didnt take a physical. Buchholz has already came out and said he did not take one. I dont believe a word SI says, especially when they have said that they expect Woody Williams to sign with the Cards when he has already signed with houston. Trust me,if the deal doesnt go through its not because of Buchholz, its because of the Astros unwillingness to invovle Jason Hirsh in the deal, and rightfully so. An article on the Astros website and another website have said that the deal is not dead, just being reworked, and buchholz is involved, so he obviously isnt the problem.

i wouldnt compare Hirsch to Santana. Hirsch is a nice prospect but he is not a blue chipper.

Id make the deal if it was just Bucholz and Tavaras but it scares me about who will play CF. Ive heard way to much talk about Jason Lane that involves something more than warming Berkmans bat or cleaning the toliets int he clubhouse.
