Funny I figured it was bcause of class?

Althoughyou'd think that they'd like Canada more since we're more English then anything else in the Americans (well maybe the Falkland islands)

The league was run by Gary Bettman, who wanted to get into new more lucrative markets such as the American south, an area that hockey had not tried to touch since the Atlanta Flames left in the late 70s. TO him he had the typical big business mentality of more potential new customers is worth more then less population wise but many loyal customers. Never mind that Winnipeg had a market of two provinces (Manitoba, half of Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario) to market too, Phoenix was the more lucrative cash cow and has proven it to be so, although they still suck as much ass as Winnipeg did.

I miss the arena is Winnipeg, for some reason I thought it was a nice look back into the league's history. It was one of those old arenas that I swear had to be built in at least the 50's because it had a huge bust of Queen Elizabeth above the home side of the ice.

as for Quebec, the owner wanted a better arena, and watned the Quebec government said "non!" to fudning (probably the only time they wanted to hear non! that year), so instead of playing in Le Colisee again, they moved.
