I messed around with FM the other night, simmed until all new vacancies were filled then entered the game and applied for every job that became open to no avail so I declared interest in the Cobh Ramblers job. They sacked their manager within days and gave me the job, my first game in charge was against top of the table Shamrock Rovers, match odds were 1/8 Shamrock, 5/1 the draw and 12/1 Cobh I went in front 1-0 in the first 3 minutes but think it must have made them mad as they ended up winning 5-1

I need a challenge or something as at the moment I lose interest and I wanted to do a dynasty that people would be interested in, on the lottery front close but no cigar winning numbers were 14 21 27 30 36 with bonus numbers 02 03 closest of my four lines was 06 21 27 32 34 bonus 01 08 so I'll have to make do with FM after all

Yeah don't think I have the energy to stay up and it's the long version 30 minutes longer than the original cut, still as another 2 hours to go lol.

Paul Dalglish is playing in it, either he's become really good or the quality in the MLS isn't as good as I thought it was.

People were rolling their eyes at the idea of some goals being worth more than 1 point...something like that is happening in France..

Quote:
Hi
Just been browsing my euro tables at end of my season. I normally change the view to Combined before saving as a webpage. On french table there's an attacking view that shows wins by more than one goal and stuff.

Only french table, and no mention of anything in rules...sorry if its been asked before but I cant find it if so.

Anyone any clues what its all about?

The French 'Attacking' table is a new thing the League introduced in order to raise the number of goals.

In this table you get some points for a win by more than one goal, and so on. When the season ends, the winner of this "Attacking Championship" gets some money (3 MEuros IIRC).

Pretty stupid idea, if you want my opinion.

Is Atletico Bilbao a racist team?

The debate rages on this thread

But it says this in the thread

Quote:
As Athletic no one but a Basque player can be signed. Are their any ways to change this or any other teams that have rules like this? Thanks in advance.

They are a Basque club and only sign Basque players as a matter of course.

Jose Vincente Fernandez Biurrun - born Sao Paulo, Brazil. Played between 1983-94. (This was in Spain not sure how long he played for Bilbao maybe all of them.)

Bixente Lizarazu - Born Saint Jean de Luz, France. Played 1996-97.

Javier Iturriaga - Born Mexico City, Mexico. Playing.

This is a quote from wiki.

The philosophy of Athletic Bilbao doesn't mandate that a player must be born in the Basque Country to play for the club, but the philosophy does establish rules that a player must meet to be signed, and those rules had traditionally made it easier to sign players born in that region, never the less, players born outside of the Basque Country are allowed to play with Athletic Bilbao if they have Basque ancestry and/or if they have learned their football skills in the Basque Country.

For the sake of accuracy I must point out that Lizarazu is in fact a Northern Basque. This is another of those misconceptions caused by modern geography akin to the Catalans question that has endlessly cropped up since the French team joined the league. For some reason when people hear Catalonia or Basque they think Spain whereas in reality the territories cross into France.

Regarding the two other players you quote, they both fit within the confines of Basque as FIFA would define it if the club was indeed the Basque national team. Iturriaga’s entire family are Basque and he was only born in Mexico as his father was working overseas. The keeper had no connection, but grew up in the Basque territory thus qualifying on residency grounds.

Anyway that has killed the few minutes and I now depart for our FA Cup party in Gillingham. Given our injury list I’m now fearing a humiliation, but hopefully we’ll keep it down to a three goal margin at worst. A lot depends on our great keeper, Andy Walker. He is a fantastic shot stopper who got us promoted two years ago virtually single handed. This year he hasn’t been called upon much but if we are to pull off the shock this afternoon we need him to come up big. Anyway given we are playing one of the bigger clubs in the competition at this stage hopefully we’ll get a minute or two on Match of the Day tonight.

Daft what sport does to us... I’m an aging bloke but this morning I woke up like a kid at Christmas.

Pretty much what I stated in the quote, but people stating that they are racist is far from the truth as they were founded by British miners and shipyard workers who merged with a group of Basque students, who had actually been studying in England and had developed an interest there/here.

They have also always kept the spelling of Athletic rather than Athletico apart from when Franco ordered them to change it in the early 1940's.

The FA Cup imo still is the greatest football competition in the world.
