Do you remember from a few years ago in the UEFA Cup, there was a team from Turkey called Gençlerbirliği? How that is actually pronounced is unknown.

Those Eastern teams seem to be the victim of a change in the political winds. Monchengladbach is a mystery to me. Ajax is a double mystery because 10 years ago they were one of the worlds best teams with a great youth ptogram. How did it all go so wrong?

Do you remember Alania Vladikavkaz? They're not even around anymore (they were expelled and reformed as Spartak Vladikavkaz).

Ive always wanted to visit Bulgaria for some reason. Its the new frontier of the westernization of eastern europe. I like the way their national team plays football.

Ajax is simple almost like the Sottish Premier it can't keep up with wages and same teams keep winning the title, most players just move for higher wages, same thing would have happened to the Russian leagues well it did a few years back but because of the ammount of money going into Russian football they've stopped players moving and if anything it's turning the other way with players from all over Europe and South America going there.

Money is also the reason for Dynamo Dresden's fall - although that is down to the relative disparity between GDP between the former East Germany and West Germany. There is only one former East German team in the Bundesliga - Energie Cottbus, and only three more in 2. Bundesliga - Hansa Rostock, Carl Zeiss Jena and Erzgebirge Aue. |

Loads of teams have just dissapeared either by going to the wall or changing their name, of the European leagues the Russian ones have always got my attention, all those exotic names like Torpedo Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow, Dinamo Moscow, Spartak Moscow you'd be like does anybody actually play outside of Moscow

There are only 38 professional clubs in the Netherlands - 18 in the Eredivisie, and 20 in the Eerste Divisie. |

CSKA came about because a friend of mine was getting married and had been to Bulgaria with his wife to be the year before on holiday, so he wanted to do something different for his stag do so we went there for the weekend and caught a game. Really nice place Bulgaria, alot of the eastern European countries are though, heard great things from people who've been to different countries round there. |
