Is Torii Hunter deserving in CF or winning on reputation? Honest question--I haven't kept up with him too much or seen him play much at all the past two years.

He is still a very good CF, but he isn't what he used to be. He also missed a good chunk of time too. That being said, I don't know of another AL CF more deserving.
Reputation has a lot to do with it though, like Jeter. |

Grady?
Most innings most total chances (led majors) most put outs (led majors) 2nd in assists with 7 to hunter and matthews jr who had 8 3 errors (1 less than hunter) #4 in RF (ahead of hunter) #3 in ZR (ahead of hunter) only CF in top 4 of every category Last edited by Go Tribe; 11-03-2006 at 01:44 AM. |

Of course, there's two handfuls of guys who deserve it more than Jeter. |

Just remember there are two "ei"'s in MT's name and you're on the way.

Homer: What? No Lowell or Gonzalez?
Reasonable human being: Chavez and Lowell are probably a wash (I'm too lazy to look up the "stats" that are fielding stats) but Gonzalez had to have been a lot better than Jeter. |

Chris Dial at BTF has Gonzalez at 14 runs saved per 150 games and Jeter at -6. |

3 straight for Jeter !
Of the nine awards given out, only one player did not have any contract incentive for winning the Gold Glove. All eight others did. Wanna guess who the one guy without the incentive was ? Derek Jeter. His reasoning for not getting a GG incentive into the contract ? He said when he makes that much money, it should be expected of him to win it. Class act all the way. did you also know that there are no Yankee players with contract incentives to make the All-Star team ? Again, it is expected of them, so there are no incentives. |

It strikes me as odd that the Red Sox come within 1 error of tying the record for lowest all-time team total and have no GGers. The Mariners in whatever year it was had 4.

What sucks even worse is Gonzalez was the best fielder in the National the last 3 years as well and didn't win it. He just doesn't get his due.

Alex played like 110 games. I can understand not giving it to him.

Either way, I'm just glad Joe Crede didn't win anything. Other than that, I don't really care. Quote:

And they have to hand it to him, because if he has to move to his left to pick it up, he's never gonna get to it.
