Financial bug

I reported this in the two previous builds, and it's still a problem under 12270.

I created a fictional league and edited in my own values for the media contracts (and yes, I did hit 'return'). For sixteen of the teams the edited values were accepted, but for four of them the amounts defaulted to $1. Repeated efforts to re-edit them have had no effect. As far as the computer is concerned, these four teams have $1 media contracts, and it doesn't care what I want to change them to.

Note that the numbers I put in DO appear on the Ball Park and Options page, but on both the team and league financials pages they appear as $1, and the amount of money they have available for signing reflects the lower amount.

This needs to be dealt with.

In case it's important, I'm running an eMac, 700MHz Power PC G4, 1 gig of SDRAM.

you probably shouldn't bump because in the past they started logging these errors from the oldest to the newest. Hopefully you didn't lose your spot in line.

Interesting ... is there any pattern with the TeamIDs or league? Are the teams all in one division?

What amounts did you use for those media contracts which worked and those which did not?

Thank you, bp. scefalu and Nutlaw, I'll get back to you on those issues tonight.

edit: Or earlier. The contracts that didn't work were in the amounts of 13.75 million, 25 million, 28.75 million and 32.5 million. In each case there's another team with the same-sized contract that the computer did accept. These are also 'standard' increments from the default game.

The four teams are in three divisions, two teams in each sub-league …and I forgot to check the team IDs. Be right back.

I don't know what to say about the IDs. I couldn't find ID numbers (as there are for players and coaches). The 'historical ID' space is blank for every team in my league, even though I'm using (mostly) historical names. The four teams affected are the Miami Marlins, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Highlanders and the San Francisco Giants. I'm not seeing a pattern.

I even thought about multiple teams per city, since New York has three teams and LA two in my league, but their 'sister' teams are unaffected, and San Fran and Miami are single-team cities.

Curtis,

I'm sorry this problem has been giving such trouble.

Incidentally, _bp was right, I (at least) usually tackle Tech Support from last to first. Hopefully, with our recent moderator additions, we won't ever fall so far behind again. :P

Anyway, I have logged this as TT # 91 in our tracking system. It won't get resolved until 2007, but we'll definitely look at it and get it fixed!

Thanks,

Steve

Good to know. I've got that universe on hold until I see if 2007 changes it. The problem didn't occur in the next universe I created.

If it helps you find the bug, I discovered tonight while trying to restructure the financials in that league, that the problem is actually one of display. The display is SHOWING only $1 media contracts for those teams, but the internal calculations the engine is doing are based on the numbers I inputted, not the numbers displayed.

Hope that helps.
