Problem with AutoFace

I am getting many...mnay duplicates of faces. I added about 10,000 more faces to the random folder and in fact that is the only folder I use. However, I will get the same player photo 4-5 times but names differently - for example, player_1, player_2, player_3, player_4, ect will all have the same face. Not all of the photos are duplicated but for some reason the program is using the same face many times even though there is about 35,000 photos to choose from. The league is M:B sized with 4 minor league levels.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Any ideas about this guys? I don't understand this one. I might as well just put in my own players if this programs does this by default but I had heard this was a great program so I wanted to try it out. Still holding out hope....

The program does not make sure every player has a different face, duplicates will happen. But with that many photos, you should not have very many duplications. In my MANY tests, this has not happened.

So what is the difference between this program vs just putting them into the folder myself?

Still would like to know this. I would still use the AutoFace utility. I just would like to know what the advatages are.

Oh hey Larry, ......... I just purchased two 320gig 16MB Cache 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda HDs (will be runnig a SATA RAID setup) and I already have 120gig HD running now but the point is that I am ready for all the utilities you will be making, lol! I know that your almanac you had said that it could take up 320MB per season, well.... now I'm ready.

About an hours worth of time per season.

Basically with my program, you can just make a couple settings and click and it adds the photos. Real players if they exist and fake players if they do not exist. Also a google report, where you can quickly google image search for any missing players.

There is a folder that you can put all MLB photos in and it will pull them from there when you start a new league, but this function was added to OOTP after I wrote my program. Also, OOTP will not bring in the rookies photos each year.

Another advantage, is you could find a picture of a player for each year and put that photo in the year folder. Let's say that you have a different picture of Hank Aaron from 1957 to 1975. You can put it in the 1957 folder, another one in 1958, 1959, etc. Then each year you could run it and your Aaron would age.

Go ahead and manually add photos to every player and time how long it takes vs. my program.

Well, I only play with fictional players based on a MLB fictional league but with 36 teams. So real players I can care less about. I thought that this proggy would rename the photos to john_doe.jpg, ect. That was my impression. I guess I could do that myslef if a player(s) goes to the HOF or are really good players so that they can be remembered.

No, by design the program only renames them by name if the photo used had a real name.

However, you bring a good point up. I can add an option to 'use players name instead of ID' for fictional players.

Watch for it in the next update.

Hey, cool! That would be a big addition. For example, your proggy can maybe rename player photos to actual names (if running fictional leagues) so that photo(s) will never- -ever be used again. In others words it would almost be like "retiring" a Player photo. You could do this for players who are HOF bound or for the ones who have made it. Or for rosters who've made the words series (or whatever the main championship is in your league). Or for players who are retired but have made big impacts in the game/league but were never sent to the HOF. Maybe give us the option to have this "player photo retirement" option for players with min/max of at bats/IP, ect and an option for what I mentioned above (in bold print).

Pros:
This would retire player photos that we want to remember and then reuse ones where players only had minor league careers or if in the majors - not so great of careers. Just a thoguht.
