Heck of a game. These are two tough, tough, clubs and the next few games should be a lot of fun. Glad the Cardinals could make me look like a complete imbecile. I hope they keep it up.

Great win for the Cards!

I should have been here too but I can't multi-task watching and then posting here in the forum. Probably tomorrow or the next few days. I'm glad semestral break was just in time.

That was a great game, and a great win.

I can't wait for tomorrow! So, I'll sleep until then. G'night.

Ugh. It's tough to burn through the pen and lose. Today's game is real important for the Mets as no one knows which Oliver Perez will show up for game 4.

Spezio was big and then Rolen comes in and lays out in the 9th. Good calls by LaRussa. Now it's best of 5.

Good game but a tough loss for the Mets, even though most people (myself included) figured they'd lose yesterday. But that was because of Carpenter, who wasn't really a factor. Hard to get the opportunity the Mets had to beat the best pitcher and miss it.

Josh Kinney saved the day getting the win. I have been calling out his greatness since his mid season call up and it looks like I am right again! The Mets have no chance, Mike Greenburg is a fool, and the World Series is waiting for the Cardinal Nation!

I live in O'Fallon, Missouri, a suburb west of St. Louis. Very nice place, population has gone from 16 to 70 thousand in ten years.

Part of our expansion is a brand new, Ozzie Smith Stadium complex, with several little league fields, and a not so little stadium, seats about 8K.

The Frontier League moved in, and named their franchise the River City Rascals.

Josh Kinney was a member of these same River City Rascals....he caught the eye of the Cardinals when he was dominating the Frontier League. He was pitching at Quincy, just to the north, and didn't manage to hook onto a Major League organization.

He's a decent pitcher, in limited play. 99 BF, with a 1.00 WHIP.

Adam Wainwright is another young gun, critically important for the Cardinals. Wainwright came from the Braves organization, and was probably their #1 pitching prospect at the time. He has 77/22 SO/BB totals, and sports a nifty 1.15 WHIP.

The Cards still need to win three games. Carpenter MAY be good for one more, but Suppan needs to step up today. Weaver is another candidate to step up....he pitched quite well the other day.

Oh.....good to see Albert score three runs yesterday. Gotta get him going.

You make it sound like he was playing for some random team in Quincy with no hope until the Cardinals saved him. He actually was pitching in Quincy for his college team. Then he got drafted by the Cardinals and has been in their minor league system working his way up the ladder. Get your facts straight.

The decision to play Floyd looms huge. He couldn't even pinch hit yesterday. With Chavez playing every day, your bench now is Castro, Woodward, Franco, Anderson Hernandez and Michael Tucker. That is very, very bad.

I said Mets in 6 and stand by that. If they win today, they've taken 2 of 3, which would put them on course. Thing with Trachsel and Perez is you basically flip a coin. Heads they're very good. Tails they're very bad. Mets will have to slug out a win in at least 1 of the next 2. They're certainly capable of doing so, but being capable and doing it are 2 different things.

Not surprisingly, you're wrong.

Kinney's contract was purchased from the River City Rascals of the Frontier League on June 15, 2001.

Listen, bucko....when you play for the River City Rascals, you play for an INDEPENDENT TEAM, IN AN INDEPENDENT LEAGUE.

There is NO affiliation with a major league team, when you play in this league.

To demand I get my facts straight, when you are completely wrong is ludicrous.

Thank you, GF.

Oh....the Quincy college team is likely worse than "A" ball...little better than a good high school team.

The Cardinals MUST win 2 of 3, and then go back to New York to win the last one. That is going to be pretty tough.

The good news is that Carpenter would be one of the pitchers for one of the last two days. This makes today's game critical...win today, and split the next four, two at home, two on the road.

Willie's getting torched in NY for leaving Mota in, going completely against his love of Heilman vs. lefties. Randolph has pushed the right buttons with this team all year and done a lot right, but his bullpen management has been questionable.

I have faith in Perez throwing a decent game with the Mets up 2-1. I don't have near the faith in him throwing a good game down 2-1. He's hyperemotional (annoyingly so, being flamboyant a la Jose Lima despite a 6+ ERA earlier this year) and I have a feeling he'll wilt under that pressure. That makes Trachsel's game today a huge one.

The Mets confidence they can beat Carpenter should spike after they knocked him around last night...but that said, knocking him around and still losing the game stings extra hard.

Tonight's a big, big game. Should be fun.

Yea, Cards fans are great, but I don't think an NY team, with the abuse they get when things go badly, will be remotely affected by that. If the Cards win, it won't be because the environment rattled the Mets (with the possible exception of Perez tomorrow).

Delgado and Beltran will likely affect the Cards pitchers more than the bright red shirts will affect the Mets players.

I didn't realize Suppan's Home/Road splits. Usually don't make too much of those, but he's certainly been much better at Busch.

I'm not sure either of these teams should be looking forward to facing the Tigers, though. Good lord, they're hot.
