Matthews in a free agent though so Texas better hurry and sign him. And they have to be better without Showalter as everyone hated him. Why not wait and see what they do this offseason before writing them off. They have some decent starting pitching as well.

They're not going anywhere. They'll probably get rid of all those six named in the offseason. Remember, they were tied for the division lead at the ASB, yet still managed to finish 13 back.

The Angels and the A's had amazing second half records. Dont give up being a fan. Look at UKHS. Because of the unfair distribution of money, Wigan have no chance to ever win the EPL or the FA Cup. Yet he hangs in there. Texas is much better situated than Wigan.

I'm not a real fan though, am I?

You never know, I might have to become an Angels fan.

We would welcome you with open arms. The owner, Arte Moreno, has promised to open his wallet over the winter. Add that to the promising young pitching and Vladie Guerrero and the Angels should be exciting next season.

Looks like Northwich Victoria are in trouble as there's an investigation into their finances, bit before my football watching days but they used to be a big rival to Wigan when Latics played in the non leagues.

New quote system, instead of numbers it's letters of the alphabet.

The only thing is you couldn't call MT by his nickname if he leaves the Rangers ever again.

I don't know why they went to 24 teams. The Conference never finish the season with the teams they started with.

In FM Northwich have a very strong team but a very small stadium and bad training grounds. It would be an interesting longterm FM challenge.

I wouldn't say never, it wasn't many years ago that people said Wigan would never play in the professional leagues of England, it wasn't that long ago people said Wigan would never win a trophy, it wasn't that long ago people said Wigan would never play at Wembley, it wasn't that long ago they said Wigan would never play in the EPL, it wasn't that long ago that they said Wigan would never stay in the EPL, never say never because the day you do you might as well admit defeat and give up

Once upon a time, Barrow actually won the FA Trophy. Amazing isn't it?

Give them an extra 50 million in their annual budget and they will have a chance. It will be hard to get top players to come to NW England.

I only mentioned that to show that there is a California connection to the name.

All you need is a bit of luck and money, and you don't need massive ammounts of money as apart from the stadium Whelan doesn't spend much, it's a myth that Wigan spend millions because if people looked at their transfers over the years they recoup just as much as they spend.

What's that connection then?

Is this some form of a code for MT to LA?

imo you don't need top players, good players yes but most important is a good manager. You gave those players who played for Wigan last season to any manager and 90% would have been relegated people don't understand how good a manager Paul Jewell actually is.

Tex was the nickname for many early cowboy actors in Hollywood. So it wouldnt be completely out of place here.

Yes, they need a bit of luck to even stay in Conference North this season.
