I want to see the A's come back just to hear the announcers spew out cliches about their "heart" and "clutchness" instead of piling on the drivel about how the Tigers are doing everything right.

Brennaman needs to learn how to pronounce "Monroe". Crap, he just prounounced it correctly now, so he has no clue what's coming out of his mouth.

Earlier he pronounced Payton, "Bradley." He's definitely mailing this one in.

Brennaman has been horrendous all postseason. Mangling names, misidentifying guys. Just brutal.

If Detroit wins the World Series, do you think Rogers comes back next year?

Brennaman is bad. If his last name wasn't what it is, would he be FOX's #2 MLB broadcaster? That disaster with Tyler Johnson/Josh Kinney the other day was pathetic. He and Steve Lyons targeting that Mets fan and his viewing device - over and over and over again - was not only unprofessional, it was mean.

Thinking of the guys who used to do network baseball in the 1980s (and early 1990s) makes you wonder how these dufuses ever landed such a gig.

Does Brennaman have family connections?

This guy talks first and thinks later, but all the while makes sure he puts on the phony dramatic "announcer's voice," coming off as a total blowhard.

I actually don't think there was anything wrong with him swinging at the first pitch there. He got a fastball to hit and just missed it.

On the other hand, when will Jay Payton learn that swining at stuff 2 feet outside at his shoes is a bad idea?

The thing with the fan is tough, because that's production's call. The producer is calling that shot (I worked in the control room for ABC's College Football coverage for a 3 seasons). I didn't hear the dialogue, so I don't know how harsh the words were, but the focus on him wasn't their call.

That being said, they're bad...very bad.

Thinking of the FOX Game 1 lead-in...how nice would a Jack Buck/Bob Murphy team for the playoffs have been. Classic!

His father, Marty, is a Hall of Fame broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds. Thom sounds a lot like him, but Marty modulates his voice and doesn't sound fake. He pretty much calls it like he sees it, which is great. He is probably my wife's favorite radio announcer because he doesn't pull any punches, but is extremely professional at the same time.

Thom is actually going to be joining him with the Reds starting next season. Let's hope daddy teaches the kid a thing or two.

Some things never change. He ALWAYS chased that pitch with the Mets. He could hit any fastball. But throw him that slider away and forget it.

Yeah, true about production, but in this case I think it was the dialogue that was what was most offensive about the whole episode.

Buck & Murphy would have been lights out.

So the Tigers 3-4-5 batter are a combined 0 for 9 and they still lead by 3?

Yay, bad call at third makes up for about 4 of Harden's walks!

Jimenez only has 2 errors in this series, but his inability to throw the ball/turn a double play has cost so many pitches, outs, and runs it's unbelievable.

There's no logical reason why Kiger doesn't play tomorrow. "He's never played a game in the majors" is no longer an excuse. Jimenez is playing like he's never played the sport in his life.
