Rooneys injury though was played on a perfect pitch, there's more injruies now on these so called perfect pitches than there ever was. sdpm will have the facts but years ago when there was dodgy pitches and such Liverpool only used about 15 players all season, now players are injured every 5 minutes.

Ok on the dynasty front I've come up with two ideas, one is to sim and post when I can, the other which is a bit different would be to sim and post 1 day per day so you could look forward to Saturday or whatever for the games lol.

1978/79 they used just 15 players, and won the Championship.

Just look at them now - they haven't picked the same starting 11 in over 90 games under Benitez. Shows how times change, doesn't it?

Just think how lucky that Sochaux defender was when he played that backpass that there was a load of water in the goalmouth. It had already beaten the keeper's stretch to save it from going in.

However if I'd been the goalie, I'd still have throttled him either way.

Was that just in the Championship because 78 would have been a European season hmmm Wembley final beating Bruges was that 78 ?

I like the 1 per day idea

On the injury front, I wonder whether many injuries arent a result of incorrect physical training and the fact that the game is played at a much faster pace and the players are much stronger.

I believe it was just in Division One yeah. That season they only conceded 16 goals in 42 games as well.

The European final against Club Brugge was at the end of the previous season 1977-78, indeed in the following year they lost over two legs to Nottingham Forest in the first round. And look what they went on to do.

dola, just looking at that European Cup, and I know how you like the names from the past ukhs, so here's one that sticks out to me.

From the first round - Dynamo Dresden defeated Partizan Belgrade on penalties after both teams won their home leg 2-0.

I think it's down to training and such, they keep going on about training methods and eating right but I think it's got to the stage it's having the opposite effect to what it's meant to. By this I mean their at such a peak fitness wise that they suffer more injuries than ever, all you ever hear about is hamstring injuries there were never as many hamstring injuries years back as there is now and this new metatarsal injury I'd never heard of before.

Also part of the problem is the boots they have now, I got my boots years ago but couple years back had to get a new pair, anyway I've always had a powerful shot so when I put these new boots on I nearly broke my foot when I kicked the ball it was like kicking a ball with my slippers on.

Maybe Im wrong, but I am shocked that there has never been a barefoot player. Back in the 70's in American football there were several barefoot placekickers. I would theorize that kicking barefood would give you more control over power and accuracy.

Dresden and Partizan were two teams I thought about for the dynasty but Partizan aren't really a challenge bit like taking over Celtic or Rangers in the SPL, can't think of the reason why I didn't choose Dresden.

I just remember growing up with teams like that before the advent of internet and sky you used to wait till think it was Match of the Day or ITV on a Wednesday evening to watch some European highlights, used to be able to stay up late on a Wednesday night to watch the football highlights then you'd go to school the day after and talk about watching Grasshoppers against Hajduk Split or St Etienne play Honved and if you were really lucky you'd get to go watch Liverpool play at home against Trabzonspor or some other team you couldn't pronounce or didn't know where they came from.

It's actually banned under FIFA rules. And I expect once you get a stud (cleat) from someones boot into your barefoot, you would soon go back to wearing them.

And get your foot crushed when someone stands on your foot with studs on

Probably because they were in 2. Bundesliga (now back down in the Regionalliga).

Just like Gençlerbirligi from a couple of seasons ago.

Snap You probably get low level African players playing without boots, but I know these days that people collect old boots and shirts to send to third world countries, probably the next famine you see on TV a kid will be running round in a Latics top.

Yep. And probably on a dirt field that when you run or slide tackle on it, it suddenly looks like a picture from the "Dust Bowl". (a point of reference for our Americans there)

I think ti was because their website wasn't Engish user friendly, I know Grasshoppers was because of this also Torpedo's website is useless really unless your Russian but I've seen them play that's why I chose them, if the Georgian league was in FM then I would have done FC Ameri they have a really good website in fact best I've seen for a non english speaking country.
