minor league free agency calculation off by one year
Due to the way the game counts minor league service time (or more specifically, what the game calls "time as a professional"), the default 6-year minor league free agency is really a 7-year free agency. Here's why:
Unlike the major league service time, which rolls over into a fully counted year as soon as the necessary days are accumulated (e.g. it goes from 0 year, 171 days to 1 year, 0 days right on the 172th day), the professional service time just keeps counting days until the end of the season, and doesn't adjust to the full year until January 1st. In other words, a guy with six years worth of experience will be listed at 5 years, 183 days or something similar after his sixth season (until January 1st when it changes to 6 years, 0 days), so he does not enter minor league free agency when the free agency filings take place. That only happens after his 7th season. Not working as intended, or is it? Last edited by Zeyes; 08-10-2006 at 12:04 PM. |

Sorry for the delay in getting this looked into, Zeyes.
I've logged this bug as TT #42 for 2007.
