I dont see that happening in the next couple years, but hopefully they'll consider it once the current broadcasting contract lapses.

He thought it was going over the bar.
And he is still with Energie Cottbus.

Start at the top of page 1 and you'll see what went on.
...lol, I didnt notice the warning system was scrapped until just now...one of you guys wanna explain the new "infractions/red card" system to me, or just link me to the thread (assuming I dont get around to finding it myself)...did they take the idea from the WC thread?

Nice to see I dont have two warnings under my name again.

As for the actual incident, I was studying in the Math & Physics building for 5 hours yeterday afternoon and heard people mention Cory Lidle consistently before my test at 6, I finally got around to texting a friend to find out what happened and it pretty much got lost on me as I begun my test.

obviously, but any self-respecting goalie still puts his hands up at the bar to make sure of it.

It was weird yesterday evening. First I read the actual incident in OT as I was watching the football, so I switched over to the news channels. Obviously I was wondering what had actually happened.

Then as it became clear it was "only" an accident, my tension level fell.

But when they said who it was in the plane I was shocked - it was someone that I "knew". Even though I'm not a fan of the Yankees, I was still shaking.

The funny thing (and I use that term loosely obviously) is that the breaking news strap on Sky News said "Reports: Cory Lidle has died".
And in a sort of release of that shock, I'm laughing to myself as I'm thinking "why have you put that up - 98% of the population wouldn't have a clue who Cory Lidle is."

A surreal evening.

Although I would love to be a goalie if I had had a chance. It must be an amazing feeling to be on the thin line that separates you from being a hero and a villain.
I've played in goal an handful of times mainly at school level, it never bothered me playing in goal if the first choice goalie didn't play for some reason. I think it boils down to always coming of the field with the dirtiest top, I always used to love the art of the sliding tackle and playing on a muddy field. Even came home one day and my Mum never even attempted to clean my jersey it just went straight in the bin, now all they do is play on pitches that resemble a putting green rather than a football field.

Worst I have ever felt when someone from the sporting world has died was the night Jock Stein died, I'd listened to the game on the radio on the school field me and my friends used to meet up on and get drunk at the weekends. It was a rollercoaster of a night as Scotland played Wales and needed a point to gain qualification to the 1986 World Cup and got the point, was in a great mood then all of a sudden their saying Jock Steins dead and it's turning into a nightmare because as a Celtic fan your brought up to look at him as a living legend then all of a sudden he's dead.

As I said in the Cory Lidle thread, the only sportsman I can remember dying in a plane crash was disgraced former South African cricket captain Hansie Cronje.

Didn't you know, it's dangerous to allow football on anything other than a good field.
IMO I think it's to do with Health and Safety, because in other countries they don't give a **** about how bad the field is.

dola, I am freakin' mad with Channel Five. Next week's MLS game is down to 30 minutes, because these damn phone-in quiz shows are taking over more of their overnight schedule. GRRRRRRRRRRRR...

They have a new station called Five US starting next week, so why can't they put it on there? Jeez, I hate some of these channels sometimes.

Sorry for ranting.

When you pay top dollar to see a match you want to see it in conditions where the atheletes can perform at their highest level. Now if it were a non league match Id agree with you.

If I get one for that, I'll be that word that I better not write beginning with a 'p'.

There was golfer Payne Stewart; Yankee catcher Thurman Munson and Im sure a few we have forgotten about. The head scout of the LA Kings died in a plane on 9/11.

I'm going to have to disagree with you and agree with UKHS.
It's fun to watch games played in adverse conditions once in a while. Now with the proliferation of retractable roof stadiums and FieldTurf, and games being called off just because the teams don't like it when it is wet, it's even rarer.

As I've said before, if they are that worried about playing on waterlogged or snow-covered pitches, play in the summer. (Of course then they'll moan the pitch is too hard )
