CubbyFan '07 Rosters Underway... Need Help!

Hey guys,

Work has officially broken ground on the 2007 rosters that I'm creating for 2006, in hopes that I'll be able to port them straight over to '07 and give you guys something to play with hopefully by the time beta testing starts, if not by the time the game is released next April.

What I'd like is for anyone who's interested in helping out with this project to let me know. I could definately use a team of guys to hammer out little parts of grunt work here and there, to help with some rating suggestions, and team specific guys who know a lot about their organizations (I could probably give more info about the Cubs than 99 percent of the guys on here, as I'm sure other Red Sox, Yankee, Twins, etc. fans could give a more accurate picture of their organization than me). If you'd be interested, please let me know (in here or over PM)!

Thanks!

Okay quick update!

What I'm planning on doing is putting together this set, and then rebuilding another for better functionality once the new database releases. However, I'm sure that you (and I) would love to have something to tide us baseball fans over until the database is released (usually in February I think? could be wrong...)

So this version will just be missing batting stats for pitchers for 05-06 (as I wasn't able to get them in) and runs allowed (not earned runs allowed, just runs allowed which have no real bearing on anything) for 2005 as I didn't put them in that year.

When I release the next version using the database, those two small issues will be fixed.

Stats are just about updated for 2006 for everyone, and at that time I'll start going through and fixing up salaries and doing the proper roster moves.

Since the last version was just a mess getting all of the levels correct (when the computer would auto manage and send the guys all over the place the next day anyway) I'm just going to aim to have all the guys in the organization this time rated at the appropriate levels but not neccisarily put there. That way you guys can have the set come out with computer run teams already. If that means the computer puts a MLB guy in AAA or a Low A guy at AA, so be it. It was just too big of a hassle last time, and really an irrelavent issue to concentrate so much time on.

The first release will probably have some fake players in it as it will be a straight port from my 2006 OOTP 6.5 set, with salaries done, and roster moves that have been made since I released the set made. After that, I'll go through and try to make sure that all the guys in the organization are on the right teams, but first release will concentrate mainly on MLB/AAA as that's what I think really matters. The nice part is that compared to the OOTP 2006 set I released, my OOTP 6.5 rosters I'm converting have a lot of the prospects rated well.

Sorry for the long winded post. If you need some clarifications, just ask. I can be confusing sometimes.

Cubby,

Thanks for the great work. Without people like you, I am not sure I would enjoy OOTP as much as I do. I would love to help out with ratings some of the Red Sox minor leaguers. One of the best sites is www.soxprospects.com. It basically ranks the top 50 or so propsects with the redsox, gives their current stats and level plus on the top 10-15 gives a ML comparison. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Ken

If you need a hand with yankees prospects, I can help out with most of the guys at AA Trenton. Can also try and remember what i saw of the other AA players from the eastern league but probably not as much as someone more knowledgable with their team would.

Another update!

Just got the rosters imported into 2006 with no hitches last night! Got the minors set up perfectly, schedules setup, etc. and everything looks to be spot on. I'm not gonna lie, seeing the FA class and the 2006 stats is a bit exciting.

Going through and updating salaries and such. I'll give an update later tonight.

But most Pitchers and Players haven't declared to become a Free-Agent yet!
Did you put Lou Pinella on the Cubs?
Don't forget that the Nats,Rangers,Giants and A's don't have a Manager at the moment!

They don't have to declare free agency -- they automatically become free agents. And you better believe I have Pinella in Wrigley!

Probably around when the new game comes out.

I'm hoping to have a version out for 2006 before I get to work on 2007, but time will tell.

Alright guys here's what I'm looking at.

I'll probably have to re-import guys from Lehman (at least pitchers) when Lehman database is released for 2006. So for this version, I'm keeping it simple, with just updated stats and updated ratings for the majors. The minors are very simple and you'll probably need to fill with some fake players. Seems pointless to finish the entire minor league system when I'll just have to re-do that part in two months.

However, the new released file WILL have updated 2006 stats and updated 2006 ratings for guys in the MLB, as well as transactions, new salaries, etc.

I have finished all the transactions, contracts, and stats. All that's left is to update ratings. Hope to have some more news soon.

Hey guys!

Hope you all are having a good Thanksgiving break! Here's an update on where things stand... I have teams re-rated through New York, with stats all updated for all teams. I ran into some small issues with the minors, but I think I should be able to iron those out. If I can, I'll release the roster set for both 2007 beta users and 2006 on the same day (the day that I first get my grubby paws on 2007 beta, assuming it hasn't come out yet, I haven't been online in about a week!).

Please keep in mind its going to be pretty raw because I'm going to be re-doing all of it once the Baseball Archive comes out, but this version will have fairly accurate MLB ratings and all 2007 stats at the least for you guys to play around with!

Looking at a rough release of the file in a few days. Minors haven't been touched up again, but I think the majors and AAA are all touched up nicely. Hopefully since I have that part finished in November and not April this year we have a head start on a finished 2007 project.

I'll start a new thread for the release hopefully this weekend?

Looking at an official release as of tonight.

Like I said in my earlier post, this roster set is VERY rough around the edges (the minors are filled with some fake players, etc.) but I have all transactions (even most of the small small small ones like minor league FAs) done, ratings for MLB players and AAA players done, salaries done, MLB ballparks, all MLB personnel, and 2007 stats updated. Also Yuniesky Betancourt didn't get his 2006 stats carried over. So I have to fix that later, apologies to Yuniesky fans.

I'm hoping before midnight tonight so I can get cracking on finals for this week!
