Also, this game doesn't worry me much. In fact, it actually strengthens my faith in the A's. Everything has gone wrong for them and everything (except Casey getting hurt) has gone right for Detroit. I don't expect that to happen three more times.
Three for Oakland, seven for Detroit.

Billy Beane's biggest mistake of 2006: Letting Mike Rouse go in favor of Jimenez. Jimenez is awful. I'd much rather see Rouse at second base this series.

Most stranded RISP in a game postseason history. That will lose you a ballgame.

Exactly. They set a freakin' record for sucktitude tonight. That won't last. I just hope it doesn't last until tomorrow. Going down 2-0 would be really bad.

Well my mom is going to be at the game tomorrow night. If that's not good luck I don't know what is.

You've got to win a Zito vs Robertson battle, at home no less.

By no means insurmountable, but this one hurts Oakland a lot.

No time to read the whole thread, but I noticed Zito was ripped off on quite a few calls with 2 outs. The curve wasn't getting any good calls on catching the backend of the plate.

Jimenez is really a bad fielder.

The A's played like they were just happy to have won a postseason series finally, and I was ashamed to be at the park tonight.

Detroit is going to stop all over them if this keeps up. Truly pathetic, and I will second guess not pitching Harden in Game 1 until I can't do it anymore.

Yeah, there was a pitch to I-don't-remember-who in that three-run inning that could have been called a strike three to end the inning but wasn't.

Zito's pitching performances depend on him getting the curve called more often than not. It wasn't getting called tonight so a poopy night for Barry.

There were two pitches in the third. The Ball 4 to Polanco and the Ball 4 to Casey were perfect.

Scutaro got jobbed, too. Strike three was in the same spot as two pitches called balls in the same at bat. I really can't comprehend that level of inconsistency.

Hopefully the A's bounce back Wednesday night. Those Detroit pitchers sure throw some heat though. 103 MPH ... geesh ... maybe we'll get lucky and their rotation will tear rotator cuffs or something. Throwing that fast.

A's MUST win Wednesday night though. They just can't be down 0-2 heading to Detroit. 1-1 would be OK. A's would still need to win 1 (or better still 2 OR 3) at Comerica.

Than again ... The Red Sox proved that being down 3-0 in the ALCS doesn't mean you're done. They proved that against the Yankees no less. But, I don't want to see the A's try that.

They A's really need to get this done by Game 6.

My wife and I were griping about a few outside calls that Robertson didn't get, then we saw Zito get squeezed on the same pitch - that's just where the strike zone was last night.

Fear not G&GH; the Tigers will have to trot Jones out to the mound in a meaningful situation one of these days. (Man, I hope it isn't tonight.)

Now that's not nice. Can't people hope their team just plays well enough to beat good players without them being maimed?

It was that way fro both sides all night. I wasn't super impressed with the ump last night.

To give you hope, the Tigers are a better road team... best in the Majors, actually.

If Zito got hosed, Fernando Rodney got hosed a few times as well.

Overall, the umpiring may not have been great, but it was consistent.

I disagree that it was consistent. It might have been bad for both teams, but it was definitely inconsistent because the zone was all over the place.

I'd rather the A's just beat the Tigers as they are, not because someone got hurt.
