Player FAR exceeding his ratings and potential

By far I mean hitting close to .400, with fairly medicore stats. I included a few screenshots if anyone is interested.

I thought he was overperforming back when he was hitting around .300, but then the last few years he has just exploded up above the .350 range, as high as .398 for a full season.

I mainly just wonder if this is an intended feature, guys overperforming their scouting, or just a glitch.

BRO ---> PHA is switching leagues, I assume? I would check to see if you have something unusual in the new league's settings, since it happened after the switch.

That is switching leagues, NL to AL, but the leagues have the same rules as far as I can tell. I pretty much left all that alone and stuck to running a historical league.

Remember that the projected stats are based on a modern day league. So, if you are in a time in history when batting averages were higher than modern times then you should expect the players' batting averages to be higher than that projection.

He's pretty much the only one I've noticed exceeding his ratings by such a high level. The best I can tell is that his speed is very high, and most of his hits are singles, so he much just be able to hoof it out on little bloopers that would be outs on slower players.

Since I took those shots another season has gone by and Maxie batted .357.

Contract wise too, this guy gets treated as a poor player. His current contract (his 4th contract) is only for the league minimum.

If he's the only guy doing it then it might just be he's the "Rudy" of your league. That guy who overcomes what seems to be talent in the middle of the pack to make a name for himself. Just smile when he enters the hall and think you'll never see a guy like him again.
