The If I Bet on the NFL Thread...

My Card (aka, the for sures)
1) Carolina by more than 7.5
2) New England by more than 9.5
3) Green Bay to win or lose by less than 3
4) St. Louis vs. Green Bay less than 46 points.
5) Minnesota by more than 7
6) Philadelphia by more than 2

Other I'd think about (aka possibly, but wouldn't bet much on)
1) Tampa Bay vs New Orleans more than 35 points.
2) Washington vs. New York Giants under 46 points.
3) Oakland vs. San Fran under 40 points.
4) Dallas vs. Philadelphia under 44 points.

I like this "If" thing:

This week I loooooove:

St. Louis Rams @ Green Bay Packers Under 46
Buffalo Bills @ Chicago Bears -9.5
Baltimore Ravens @ Denver Broncos -4

The line on the Bears game is -10 most places, but, uh, let's just say I hypothetically parlayed those 3 games and took an extra half point on the Bears. I mean, if I bet on the NFL that's what I would do.

Also, I wouldn't touch that Was/NYG or NYJ/Jax spread ever. Hate 'em both.

The bears are gonna lose. **** it. I'd take the Bills over just about anyting right now. The Bears will not win this week. Guarantee it.

Serioslty? The Giants and Redskins easily make 46 points.

Well I do bet on the NFL and here's what I took this week

Vikings -6.5
Bears -10
Jags -6.5
Cowboys +1.5

I have been kicking butt so far this year, but I had a down week in college football so I'm a little shaky on confidence today.

I don't see Buffalo holding the Bears under 10 points.

Yeah, the over/under is fine. But the Giants were a 4.5 point favorite. I don't like that. But now the number has moved to 6 which makes me think the Redskins might be a decent pick. I'm still staying away though.

I really like the Bills defense, that's why.

I don't know what happened to my sheet, but I think I'd still take the Giants with six. But yeah, I'd stay away.

JD's comment has me wondering and since you bet, I'll ask you (although JD, I'm sure could answer it).

Hypothetically...If you bet on a team that has a 6.5 spread and they change it to 7; do you get the 6.5 since you bet on them when they had a 6.5...or do you get the 7 since they changed it?

I suppose if you're dealing with some shady bookie, you never know what'll happen. With internet sites, you get whatever the number is when you make the bet.

For those who are curious, the reason the line changes is because the bookmakers are seeing a lot more action on one side. Their goal with setting a number is to get equal action on both sides, what happened here is that lots of money was going on the Giants, so they adjusted the line. For it to shift a full point and a half in a day, that's a TON of money on the G-Men.

Makes a lot of sense. Thanks JD!

The IF in the title refers to Vegas betting. Someone was telling me about a parlay, I guess that's what I'd be. I don't really know much about it other than someone mentioning it, so I may be way off.

Where I bet through I get it where I bet it at. Never really effects me though, I tend to bet college on Saturday morning and pro on Sunday morning

Vegas gives you what the number is when you bet. However, this is apparently different for horse racing. I've heard that if the odds change on a horse, you get whatever the latest odds are.

BTW, Benson just scored a TD. Another Bears rout.

I kinda thought the Bears were a lock. Glad I bet more on that game than the others.

I am glad I listened to you about the Bears game. You seem to really know what you are talking about.

If I bet on the NFL, I'd bet that Terrell Owens is an asshole.
