What makes Zimmerman such an appealing choice over Ramirez or Uggla?

Defense. By all accounts, Zimmerman's a Gold Glover while Ramirez and Uggla are well below average.

Which defensive metrics are you using? I don't see Uggla as that worse of a defensive player than Zimmerman. Either way though, I think the offensive value of Ramirez and Uggla more than makes up for their less than stellar defense.

I'm not using any defensive metrics, just hearsay. That's why he's an appealing choice, not necessarily the correct choice.
I personally would pick Zimmerman, but it's basically a coin toss over Ramirez. Both had excellent seasons.

Hanley is my hero...up until the last month or so of the season 2 or 3 Marlins would have landed it over him, but now Id go with him. Hopefully all the Marlins dont steal votes from each other and give it to Zimmerman, though he certainly had a solid year.
