New 1967 Heavyweight Replay Project
Jo Juvillier Rating 1 France
HW 1960-68 14 wins / 14 losses / 3 draws / 5 KO Alias: Joseph Birthplace: Pointe-a-Pitre, Martinique Rating by: Rocco Del sesto Juvillier is listed as Light Heavy in BoxRec. He's also referenced as a Light Heavy in the 1968 Ring Record Book and a couple Ring Magazines. By his weight given in some of his fights listed in BoxRec though you could consider him as a heavyweight. He fought for one title, that the French LHW Title against Paul Roux in October 1963. Roux defeated Juvillier in a 15 round decision. During those first approximately 3 years of his career they would be considered pretty much as a Light Heavy. Starting in about early 1964 though you see him moved up fighting more in the Heavyweight class, both his weight and that of his opponents. For that reason he's rated here as a heavyweight. His first 2 fights were a 6 round decision loss to Guerrino Scattolin in Dec 1960 and a 5th round KO win over Eli Elandon in Jan 1962. That win over Elandon was the first of 6 wins and a draw in 7 fights up through mid 1963 before he was defeated by Roux in that French LHW title fight. He over the next 5 years he fought a good number of recognizeable fighters from the European scene. He mounted wins over Mariano Echevarria, Jurgen Blin, Karl-Heinz Troche, Jose Peyre, Albert Duscha, Arnie Brower and Rond Redrup. He also fought draws against Horst Benedens and Dante Cane. He lost fights to Lion Ven, Paul Roux, Benito Canal twice, Lennart Risberg, Jack Bodell, Dante Cane, Roy Enifer, Raimo Nisula, Billy Gray and Ivan Prebeg. One quick side note. I seen where BoxRec now shows Troche's name as Karl Hermann Troche. At one time it was Karl-Heinz Troche when I rated him some time back when. Why the name change? Anyone know? Reference to Troche in my Ring Record book is only Karl Troche. Rocco |

Semi (Sam Haley) Halalilo Rating 2 Tonga
HW 1965-73 21 wins / 9 losses / 0 draws / 16 KO Alias: Sam Haley Smiling Tongan Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Halalilo after loosing a 6 round decision to LHW Joe Jackson(14-6-2,6KO) in June 1973, as retired from the ring until coming back in May 1982 for a 1 fight comeback, loosing by 4th round KO to a George Stankovich. For the basis of this rating of Halalilo, this 1 fight in 1982 is not figured in. Halalilo fought mainly as a LHW except for about 1 year in 1967 when he move up in weight to take on the heavyweights. From 1965 thru 66 the only heavyweight of note he took on was George Mahoni, loosing to him by 10 round decision some time around mid 1965. Then about one year late they squared off again with Halalilo coming away with the win. He also fought a middleweight, Pauli Mahoni twice in this time with a win and a loss. These were the only two opponents Semi faced during this time who had any kind of record. The rest were all one time fight opponents. Then came 1967 and Halalilo won fights against heavyweights Young Stanko, Manassa Clay, and Bobby Stininato along with victories against LHW's Mike Leui(3-1-0,2) and Emuel Cowan(4-6-0,4). In November 1967 he lost a 10 round decision to Leweni Waqa. They fought a rematch about a year later with Halalilo winning by another 10 round decision. After that, Halalilo moved up and down between LHW and HW opponents. He lost a 10 rounder to Bob Dunlop in Dec 1968. In August 1969 Semi and Mani Vaka fought a 15 round battle for the Tongan LHW Title with Vaka taking the decision. Vaka beat him again in April 1970 by 4th round KO. Five months after that he lost a 12 round decision to Foster Bibron. In October 1970 knocked out HW Giuseppe Bertucci(8-8-0,4KO). We then don't see him in the ring again until March 1972 when he TKO's HW Gerry Cambridge(9-4-1,3). That's followed by the loss to Joe Jackson in June 1973. |

Fernand Descamps Rating 1 Portugal
HW 1967-68 0 wins / 5 losses / 0 draws / 0 KO Alias: Francois Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Not much to look at by fought some recognizable names. IN 1967 between April and August he was Ko'd in 2 by Mariano Echevarria, KO'd in 1 by Santo Amonti, TKO in 3 by Vittorio Verrengia and KO'd in the 1st by Pietro Besi. Then in April 1968 he finished up his brief career with loss number 5, 1st round KO for Hans Jorgen Jacobsen. Alex Kelly Rating 1 Scotland HW1965-67 4 wins / 2 losses / 0 draws / 3 KO Hometown: Edinburgh, Scotland Birthplace: Glasgow, Scotland Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Won three TKO victories over Barry Rodney(twice) and Derek Groombridge in late 1965 and early 1966. The second win over Rodney and Groombridge was in a NOvice Heavyweight competition. Then in the final of that competition in Feb 1966 he lost a 3 round decision to Vic Moore. Kelly has no record of fighting again till March 1967 when he wins a 6 round decision over Barry Rodney. A month later he's stopped in the 4th round by roger Tighe and that's it for Kelly's career. Ken Brewster Rating 1 Trinidad and Tobago HW 1965-69 2 wins / 3 losses / 0 draws / 1 KO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto In October 1965 Brewster's first fight was an 8 round decision over LHW Godfrey Oliver who also was making his first go round in the ring. Next up for Brewster as Ulric Regis in May 1966 for the Trinidad and Tobago HW title. A scheduled 15 rounder, they fought into the 14th round before Regis stopped Brewster for the TKO victor. Next, Brewster was KO'd in the 3rd round by a Leo Peterson(3-5-0,2). Peterson would later go on to become George Forman's 9th victory. In March 1967 Brewster took on Bahamian, Carl Baker and fought him through 8 rounds, but to a decision loss. One more fight for Brewster is listed then 1969, the date uncertain, a 9th round TKO victory over a Pedro Sanchez(7-13-0,6KO). Ulric Regis Rating 2 Trinidad and Tobago HW 1961-69 8 wins / 9 losses / 0 draws / 6 KO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto BoxRec shows a fight against a George Wright listed in 1961 but the year and venue are unknown. So where they picked this record up at who knows. They list it as a 3rd round TKO win for Regis. Next in Feb 1961 Ulric is KO'd in the 3rd round by Mauro Mina in a fight in Lima, Peru. After that we next see Ulric back in his home country in April 1964. From then through June 1968 Regis fights poradically winning 5 fights loosing 4. He beats Leo Peterson(3-5-0,2) and Ken Brewster for the Trinidad and Tobago HW title in May 1966. His most impressive wins would be beating Bahamian HW Carl Baker three times. One of his losses is to Billy Daniels in November 1965 by 8th round TKO. Daniels had to rally to stop Regis and left the ring with a messy face. He also lost to LHW Dick Hall and Leotis Martin during that period. The Martin fight was Regis' only bout in 1967. After beating Baker for the 3rd time, by 10th round KO in June 1968, Regis took off to fight in Europe where he fought for the remainder of his career. He beat Raimo Nisula in Turku, Finland, lost to Peter Boddington in London and defeated Hans Jorgen Jacobsen in Denmark all in 1968. He then fought and lost 3 times in 1969 to wrap up his career, to Jacobsen again in Denmark, to Nisula in Finland and finally to Joe Bugner in London. All three of those losses were 8 round decisions. Last edited by Rocco Del Sesto; 09-15-2006 at 10:35 PM. |

Antonio will be 12 this December. He's our ball player as you can see. He really likes his sports, but he's also been playing piano for 3 years and now in 6th grade and starting band he's taken up playing the tooba! (Is that how you spell that?!). Surprisingling being a somewhat quiet kid, he also likes doing theatrical stuff in school. He's really kind of surprised us with his multi talents. He sure didn't get any of that from Dad! Nathaniel is going to be 5 in November but he looks more like maybe 3. He was born down syndrom and had some major health issues at birth that I think in part has really delayed his growth both physically and mentally. He's just now starting to say a handfull of words and just now starting to get him potty trained some. So, we got a long road travel with him. But, they really are what makes like go round and make it exciting! What exactly is Stef getting into with music. Instrumental, singing? Rocco |

This German fighter's career ended in 1966 so he's not part of my 67 project but I ran across him doing Klaus and wanted to do him as he had a pretty decent list of european opponents.

Pat Stapleton Rating 1 Ireland
HW 1959-69 13 wins / 3 losses / 1 draw / 7 KO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Started out career from January 1959 thru April 1960 with a 9-0-0,4KO record including wins over Cliff Purnell twice, Alex Barrow, Garnett Denny and Paddy Slavin. Then came a 6th round knockout loss to Maxie Earle(9-12-0,8KO) in July of that year. Stapleton came back 5 months later at the end of 1960 and won a 6 round decision over Alex Barrow. It's a year almost then till November 1961 when he fights an 8 round draw with Jose Peyre. Then he's gone for 5-1/2 years before he reappears in boxrec in June 1967. He fights 3 times in 1967 winning all 3 fights by knockout in 3 or less rounds against Barry O'Neill(9-13-0,4), Willie Jackson(0-1-0,0) and Herman Harris(15-23-1,11, Herman's last fight). So nothing to get excited about those 3 knockouts. Stapleton then is gone from the ring again from August 1967 till October 1968 when he's stopped in the first round by Charlie Emperor Harris(12-30-1,8). One last fight comes up in April 1969, a 1st round knockout loss to Bill McMurray. |

New 1967 Heavyweight Replay Project
Trying to get started here on a handful of German HW's from 67....
Gerd Englbrecht Rating 1 Germany HW 1962-67 3 wins / 11 losses / 1 draw / 2 KO Alias: Danny Brecht Birthplace: Nurnberg, Germany Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Englbrecht fought one fight in 1967 according to boxrec, he was a 1st round Knockout victim of Hans Jorgen Jacobsen. On March 2nd in Copenhagen. This was after Gerd had not fought since May of 1965 at least as far as boxrec has note of. Trying to find any note of this bout in Ring, I found in the 1968 Ring Record Book under it's record for Jacobsen it shows this bout taking place on March 4th and it has Gerd's name spelled Engelbrecht. In the June 1967 issue of Ring there is a short mention of this fight where it notes that Jacobsen stopped Danny Brecht, Austria (late Englebrecht, Germany) in 30 seconds with a right to the chin. So this makes it look that Englebrecht however it was spelled being from Germany had moved to Austria and taken up the name Danny Brecht when his fight in 1967 took place. But, since the bulk of his career would appear to be when he was known as Englbrecht and he was born in Germany we're creating him here as Gerd Englbrecht as Boxrec lists him with German nationality. Gerd's career from 1962 thru 65 was not much to talk about. He was KO'd in 5 by Rudolf Nehring in January 1963 and then lost a 6 round decision to Kurt Stroer and a 4 round decision ot Harry Kneipp in March 1963. That was followed in April of that year by a 2nd round KO at the hands of Benito Penna. After winning his 3rd and last career bout, a 3rd round DQ over a Horst Appel(0-5-0) whom Gerd and beaten in his first career bout a year earlier, Gerd was stopped in the 4th round by a fairly decent LHW of the time, Bas van Duivenbode in Sept 1963. van Duivenbode loose twice to Rudi Lubbers in 1971 in bouts for the Dutch Heavyweight Title. Two other fights in 1963 saw Gerd knocked out by Ossi Buttner and Vittorio Saraudi. May 1964 he was stopped in 4 by Vittorio Gobbo(2-16-0,1). Then came the Jacobsen fight 3 years later. |

New 1967 Heavyweight Replay Project
Here's 5 Italians. Most not much to look at.
Gianfranco Giannini Rating 1 HW 1964-76 7 wins / 26 losses / 3 draws / 2 KO Birthplace: Follonica RAting by: Rocco Del Sesto Not much to look at in Giannini who was stopped in 15 of his 26 losses while managing only 2 KO's himself. Two of his 7 wins were by his opponent's disqualification. He started out his career going 7-9-3,2KO from 1964 thru August 1970. That included wins over Valere Mahau, Natale Solda and Armando Zanini. The draws were against a Franco Persiani, Pietro Stracci and Solda. The losses included against Giovanni Biancardi, Vittorio Verrengia twice, Ermanno Festorazzi, Giancarlo Bacchini and Stracci. After that win over Zanini though, it was crash and burn for Giannini as he lost his last 17 fights, 10 by stoppage. Losses piled up against Benito Penna twice, Lorenzo Zanon twice, Bjorn Rudi, and Timo Ahola as far as any note worthy opponents. Natale Solda Rating 1 HW 1967-71 0 wins / 7 losses / 1 draw / 0 KO Birthplace: Pola Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Lost to Pietro Stracci(2-6-1,0) and twice to LHW Giacomo Usardi(5-3-1,2) in 1967. In May 1968 fought a 6 round draw with Gianfranco Giannini(7-26-3,2). IN October 68, those two fought again with Giannini knocking out Solda in the 2nd round. Solda was KO'd in one fight in 1969 by Piermario Baruzzi's first career bout, and then Solda was stopped in fights in 1970 and 71 by a Rajko Milic(his only career bout) and by Benito Penna. Pietro Stracci Rating 1 HW 1967-69 2 wins / 6 losses / 1 draw / 0 KO Birthplace: Offida, Ascoli Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Beat Natale Solda(0-7-1) in 6 rounds in first fight in July 1967. Lost next 2 to LHW Giacomo Usardi(5-3-1,2) and HW Pietro Besi(11-10-1,6KO) in 1967. In 1968 drew one fight and won another against Gianfranco Giannini(7-26-3,2) and then lost to Ermanno Festorazzi(9-19-2,7). Later in 1968 lost two more fights to LHW Gianfranco Macchia(21-9-5,12) and Romano Peviani(7-8-0,2). Lost one last fight in May 1969, a 6th round KO to Giorgio Bambini who was fighting for the first time winning the first of 15 fights without defeat in his career. Pietro Besi Rating 1 HW 1964-69 11 wins / 10 losses / 1 draw / 6 KO Birthplace: Sansepolcro Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto An apparent weak chin(8 stoppages in 10 losses) kept Besi from maybe being better as he recorded 6 KO's in 11 wins. He defeated Henry Ferjules, Valere Mahau, Fernand Descamps, Pietro Stracci, Marius Sappe, Jose Peyre while loosing to Ermanno Festorazzi twice (fought 1 draw also), Vittorio Verrengia, Giuseppe Ros, Benito Confin, Mariano Echevarria, Hans Jorgen Jacobsen, Raimo Nisula, Piermario Baruzzi and Vasco Faustino. The last five mentioned losses were by TKO and KO. Benito Confin Rating 1 HW 1965-67 2 wins / 5 losses / 1 draw / 1 KO Birthplace: Udine Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Fought to a 6 round draw with Giancarlo Bacchini in his first fight in May 1965. Two months later Confin lost a 6 round decision to Celio Turrini then 2 months later again lost another 6 rounder to Ermanno Festorazzi. In Feb 1966 he lost his 3rd straight 6 round decision, this time against Turrini. Confin next fought in December of 1966 when he knocked out Hans Jorgen Jacobsen in the 2nd round in Sweden. In February 1967 those two fought again, this time in Denmark where Jacobsen won a 4 round decision over Confin. After that Confin went back to native Italy and finished out his career. A week after his 2nd bout with Jacobsen he lost still another 6 round decision again to Celio Turrini. A month later he won a 6 round decision over Peitro Besi(11-10-1,6KO) but there's no other recorded fights for Confin after that. |

This guy, I posted I'm not sure when. I'm reposting him here only with some Bio update for TB2 and I've changed his nationality from England to St.Lucia.
George Dulaire Rating 1 St. Lucia HW 1966-71 9 wins / 20 losses / 4 draws / 5 KO Hometown: London, England Birthplace: St. Lucia, BWI Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto In Oct. 1966, Dulaire fought Jim McIlvaney(13-12-3) who as 10-2-1 at the time. Dulaire TKO'd him in 4 to then set up his Jan. 1967 fight with Roger Tighe (21-13-3), Dulaire's first test of any caliber. It was in fact to be the first of 3 fights these two fighters would stage in 1967. Dulaire would later go on to fight Dave Ould(22-11-0), Rocky Campbell(22-18-3), Raimo Nisula(14-3-1), Bunny Johnson, Joe Bugner, Dennis Avoth(23-21-3, whom he fought 3 times), Billy Aird, and Richard Dunn twice. He split the fights with Dunn and lost to Aird and Johnson. The first fight with Dunn, in November 1969 was a TKO loss in the 2nd round in a Heavyweight Competition final in England. In May 1971 in his next to last career fight he went up against Jeff Merritt who was 14-1 at the time an who had won his last 9 fights. This was Dulaire's only fight in the USA and only his 3rd outside of England, staged at the Convention Hall in Miami Beach, Florida. Dulaire had no chance as Merritt put him down 3 times in 47 seconds of the 1st round! Dulaire went backt to England and fought one more time in 1971 loosing an 8 round decision, then hung up the gloves. |
