Still problems with trade AI...

Why is it, that after so many versions of the game, the trade Ai still leaves so much to be desired?

For one solid season I was offered nothing but middle of the road shortstops (a position I thought I had upgraded in the offseason, but the game found me woefully deficient) in exchange for nothing less than my starting left fielder and/or my number one starter, two players I had recently signed to healthy contract extensions.

And, it wasn't as if I was looking to sell. At the time, I was firmly entrenched in a playoff spot.

That IS annoying! The computer AI has a very different idea than I do of what positions I need to upgrade, and it seems to have no interest in trading to obtain a utility infielder, backup catcher or fourth outfielder, no matter how much some computer team might need one.
