As the internet is world-wide and its users culturally diverse, there is a portion of the community that will not find anything of interest in your post about your daughter's local hockey squad or the cracking good season your local cricket/football/rugby/baseball team is having when they're in here looking for boxing. You know that if you post these threads in an Off-Topic Forum, even under the mantle of TBCB, they may not get read. So best advice from an old unstable character is to keep these posts to a minimum in a clearly-marked thread. At some point we might have a "General Discussion TBCB/Boxing" and another called "General Discussion Pub Talk".

Not sure if that will be a go, but it is already covered with Talk Sports. It isn't just for national sports, but also for the local scene as well. AND it is closer monitored than OT, since it is a part of the main forums... boxing fans or no, I would love to see more folks posting sports items from their neck of the woods in Talk Sports.

A takeover by the boxing guys wouldn't hurt TS a bit. :P

This is likely the best way to handle these things.

If there are an abundance of non-boxing threads here I will just move them to talk sports.

At the present time, there is one. We have also discussed Dan's elation over the Tigers winning in some Aussie sport that I cannot pretend to understand as well as Shane and Tom talking about the ashes.

Personally, I do not mind in the least having these occasional non-boxing discussions here among friends. Actually, I rather enjoy them. If it gets out of hand or these posts truly offend more than a few sensibilities, something will need to be done but I hope that we can simply carry on as is. I really do not see a problem of any sort here.

Talk sports would be alright, but I'd still probably end it .. too many fools up there for my tastes ... I was one of the drunken fools after the Irish win and TC rightly smacked me back down. But I see TBCB as family and those up there as people on a message board. So like I said in Danny's thread, if you feel the need to move it please just lock it instead.

I look at it this way, if you get a few threads where you have a discussion among friends and it involves sports, leave it here. Post away, and chat. If someone wants to be involved they have to play by YOUR rules here... and that is a good thing.

I don't see the boxing fans creating THAT many threads that we have to move them to the TS area... so let's leave it as it is now, and let a great bunch of guys talk among themselves and develop a "community" of fans that only helps TBCB in the long run.

I would rather see great discussions here than get lost in other less respectful areas. So have it I say.

Making the community here in TBCB stronger is more important than keeping things "letter of the law"..

If it gets bad, you guys can discuss which should be moved and which should stay.. ConnChris has a great handle on things TBCB. It is in his very CAPABLE hands!

And mh? You weren't that bad. Just a minor blip on the road map. If you saw all the things I usually have to dredge thru, you would understand!

Lets keep this very simple this is supposed to be a boxing board where we come to talk about the boxing and Title Bout. Please note the name of this forum its called TBCB GENERAL DISCUSSIONS.

Most USA guys love there football and of course many will want in the end to talk about it and change the whole structure of this forum. Where does it end. Shall i start a thread on my young army days or my sons obsession with soccer and my cousin who played for Manchester United. Can you see the point i am trying to make guys.

The obvious thing to do is start a new forum or something similar in here called Other Discussions or Other Topics. I have no objections to anyone talking about other games or there life story if they so wish but lets keep this as a boxing board.

Simply as a matter of fact:

There are 54 threads visible on this first page, 48 are about boxing or this boxing game in one fashion or another.

Of the six un-related threads:

- One is about high school football and has been in existence for nearly a year

- One is a 9/11 remembrance thread that received a few responses

- One is about a football computer game that has yet to receive any response

- One is pointing to a horse racing thread in another forum that is an off shoot of my TBCB universe

- Two are about all of the non-boxing threads that are being created.

I'm confused why a thread about my son's football team that has been on the board for over a year and has had numerous responses to it irritates Danny so much. But like I said Chris feel free to lock it and I will make sure I never share anything personal about my life or family again. I'll make sure I never wish Danny's wife well again either since that isn't about boxing.

I'll make sure I never ask Mark (vista) how the new job is going since it's not about boxing. Let's make this a cold impersonal place where no of us care about anyone. I'll make sure never to congratulate thebadguy on his sobriety either since it's not about boxing.

Come on Danny seriously??? But like I said Chris I don't want it moved so just lock it or leave it and I'm done posting in it and it will fall off the front page so it doesn't piss Danny off everytime he sees it.

Don't worry about a flame war ... Danny and I have been around the block on lots of things but I have the utmost respect for him. He gets that old guy "get off my yard you young whippersnappers" attitude every now and then

, but for the most part he's a heck of a guy. One I would sit in a pub and drink with all day long.

He's just in one of his moods today.

When I read this, Chris's amusing attempt at trying to lead us in a take over of the OT AP polls came to mind. Those were an entertaining couple of days, only spoiled by the fact that the guy who runs the poll had a dummy spit and left the boards for good.

My primary interest is in boxing and I very rarely venture into the other boards. When I do it is usually to check out posts regarding various sports sims. As an old APBA board gamer they have some interest for me. Any other threads I visit are pretty much happenstance occurences. I don't think I've posted on the other boards more than a half a dozen times. I have a more communal feeling here on this board. I read all of the posts here, even the off topic ones because of that sense of community, and the shared interest that we all have in enriching our experiences with the game.
