Henry takes regional

April 22, 1911

Pearce Henry (UR/8) (15-0) (pre) scored a KO10 over Bill Lang (6/9) (22-7) to win the CBU HW title and take his first step to a world title.

Henry left no doubt about this one as he dropped Lang 3 times in the first and then punished him over the next 8 rounds before dropping him 2 more times in the 10th to finish it.

Lang may have won a couple of close rounds along the way but for the most part it was all Henry.

I had it 87-81 at the stoppage.

On the undercard

WW - Charley Hitte (8/7) (22-11) TKO7 Tom Meadows (29/32) (11-6) (meadows at pre)

FW - Abe Willis (44/33) (15-7-2) UD10 Mike Sears (UR) (11-2-1) 96-95 (both at pre)

HW - Al Kubiak (77/75) (12-7) UD10 Tommy Dugan (75/80) (14-9) (kubiak at pre)

MW - Billy Baker (23/18) (22-18-5) UD10 Tommy Cleary (22/34) (14-5-1) (cleary at pre)

LW - Phil Cross (UR) (3-2-1) DRAW8 Johnny Allen (UR) (8-1-3) (both at pre for this club fight ..... cross quickly becoming a dissappointing 7 rated fighter)

Way to go Jack, it looks like Dempsey is closing in on a title shot so that means it's almost time for another lose.

Kilbane wins title

April 29, 1911

Johnny Kilbane (2/CH) (20-2-1) cashed in his prospect status with a UD15 over Jimmy Briggs (CH/3) (17-11-5) to win the WBC FW title. Briggs was forced to vacate the WBA title with the loss and a tourney will crown the new champ.

It started out as though it was going to be a quick fight as Kilbane opened a cut under the right eye of Briggs and started Briggs' left eye swelling in the first round.

The Briggs got back under control and it was a very close fight the rest of the way. The cut was only reopened once. No knockdowns and no more cuts.

I had it 143-143. Danny Cahalin (RE) had it 144-143 Kilbane. The official judges had it 144-143/144-143/145-142. Briggs did enough to keep the title but Kilbane's popularity was enough to carry him with the judges.

On the undercard

WW - Honey Mellody (46/35) (20-16-1) TKO10 Dave Deshler (44/50) (8-5-3) (deshler at pre)

FW - Tommy White (31/25) (14-8-3) TKO10 Chris Tucker (36/48) (16-6-1) (tucker at pre)

FW - Sammy Kelly (63/47) (13-11-1) TKO8 Jack Skelly (42/54) (12-5-1) (skelly at pre)

LH - Dan Flynn (38/30) (14-8-3) UD10 Tom Parks (15/31) (8-8-2) (parks at pre)

WW - Jim Mitchell (club) (21-23-3) KO5 Matty Matthews (club) (18-23-2) (mitchell at post, matthews at end for this club fight ... mitchell stepped up to WW for this fight)

My vote is on Dillon ruling the Lt. Heavies in the near future.
What's up with MW Rube Ferns, 0-6 in title fights. Take those title fights away and he has a nice record.

Yeah I know I was surprised by Ferns. I think Dillon has a shot at Ryan's 34-0 record. Ryan has the longest win streak and it was to begin his career.

Gotta say, Mike, you keep a detailed and involved uni. I can't even keep up with one sanctioning body, let alone 8! Nice going.

Have Langford and Heenan met yet? That would be a nice bout if both are in prime.

Langford won a SD10 in 1906 both are still prime. Starting at the end of this year in addition to random retirements there will be random changes to post prime. Haven't decided how I'm gonna do it just yet. Similiar to my random retirements but just haven't decided on the #'s yet.

Keeping up .. well now you see why it takes me almost 2 weeks to run a month, and I play at least 2 hours a day. Plus after 2.5 years, my system is pretty smooth.
