I will finally start playing this, but I need some help

I plan on playing this game finally. But I don'tknow the first thing on what I want.

I'm looking to start a MLB universe , but I do want other leagues in as well. Is their a quickstart released like that?

Also, any facepacks, logopacks released that you guys reccomend?

Please provide links, as I am really looking forward to starting this.

It's hard to tell from your message how much of a "newbie" that you are, so I will recommend, if you have not noticed it yet, the quickstart game that comes with the game called MAL.quick. It's MLB plus minors with fictional players. If you are really new to OOTP, all you have to do is edit some team and league names and start playing that quickstart game to get a feel and how the game works with a majors/minors universe.

Next, you can replicate the same universe, plus add a few of the default international leagues by creating a new game and checking Major American League and a few others. This will give you an idea of how MLB interacts with other leagues concerning trades and free agent interleague movement (if you allow them).

If you really are new to the game, then it might be a good idea to do these things before experimenting with modifications. When you are ready, in addition to f.montaya's suggestions, may I recommend our very own Modifications ("Mods") forum? That's where I found my logos (in the Logos, Graphics, and HTML subforum - you may have to page backwards in time a bit), and there is a utility available there called OOTP FaceTool that the moderators have honored with sticky status.

I have been over to the ootpmodsquad site and I did get my Bogart stadium pictures from there. There is currently only one offering of a world template that dates after patch 1.03, which may or may not be a concern. One drawback is that the file is offered in .rar format, which requires installing an alternate zip-type program to extract. There are also some historical roster sets available, but your league setup has to match. I don't know; someone new to the game should not be diving into this stuff, IMO.

I've been around since OOTP4, but I'm still green on the inner workings of this game since it took a while for Cubby/Erich's rosters to come out. And I didn't have time over the last few months to play it.

Does that help you out as far as my knowledge goes?

What do you suggest knowing what you know now?

Jordan - I apologize. I should have seen from your number of postings that you have more experience with OOTP than I do (OOTP6). I try to help the true "newbies" over here whenever I can (and when I am reasonably sure of what I am talking about) in order to sharpen my own understanding of the game.

You, then, do not need advice from me; I'm sure you are already aware of the Mods subforum and f.montoya's suggestions. I would suggest, however, that you post in the "General Discussions" forum where the really experienced people participate who could advise someone like you with just a bit less experience. Plus, there are always more viewers and posters over there.

I have always considered this "New to the Game?" forum as being mostly for people new to OOTP, not OOTP2006. I may be wrong in that, but I bet your questions would get more responses in the "General Discussions" forum.
