I am working tomorrow, so I will send a 2 man draft list by PM before I crash for the night if my pick has not come up.

How long should I wait for Catalion to respond before I make a selection for him?

The draft came up quick and I didn't send out PMs informing all managers of the draft to much in advance.

The managers that I'm not sure are aware of the draft taking place are: jbergey, Tosti, umk, Catalion, Ian Lord and IceTea.

* The trade wire is now closed *

The draft pool has been updated on page one.
Just a note. When I update the draft list here, I'll also update your teams roster on the Utba thread with the new boxer added plus the change in your cap points.

2nd Pick..................Punching Gatitos are now on the clock.

.......on deck, Juggernaut

I'd give it 24 hours from the time you sent out the email

24 hours sound good. I think BigMatt knows about the draft since he's posted in the thread after you sent the PM and Shane made his pick.

As much as I want to get this going, I am willing to be pretty patient this time. I'd even wait untill next weekend. The problem is that we haven't discussed penalties, et cetera.

For the next one however, I would like to see us discuss and establish fair rules and hold everyone to them.

My off-the-cuff rules suggestions for next season:

1) Draft to be held within one week of the finals*
2) No PMs need to be sent from commissioner
3) A person has four hours from the previous pick to make their selection.
4) After four hours, the player's pick is moved to the end of the draft (not the end of the round)
5) If the draft is complete and moved picks have not yet been made, those picks are forfeited within 24 hours.

Those are just quick suggestions. We should not need to be PM'd by Scot about this stuff all the time. I realize that people have busy schedules, but if a person cannot keep up with this, they should not be involved in it to begin with.

As it is the first season and people don't know what to expect, I say we give lots of time for this to play out and be tough but fair next time.

Post when the draft is going to start 48 hours ahead of time then no PM's needed. I think they should be moved to the end of the round first, then end of the draft.

Also PM Sal ahead of time for him to make your pics if you are going to be gone.

Cool In other leagues ...

... I've been in, for basketball and baseball, with online drafts, each drafter is given a time limit (4-5 hours?), then bypassed if he still hasn't picked and the next person goes. When the delinquent person gets around to checking in, they can post their pick at any time, but will continue to be bypassed and shuffled down the string.
If they get more than 5-6 picks behind, the commish tries to contact them and warn them to pick ASAP, then moves them to the end of the round if necessary. Still no pick? Time to think about moving them to the end of the draft or getting a new manager.
Warning on the draft is usually 48 hours, and some leagues require you send a preference order list to the commish if you know you will be unavailable or offline, as Mike said.

Those sound like decent rules Mark. I would say that a guy who misses the four hour draft time frame should automatically go to the end of the round though. Wouldn't it just cause confusion if he was able to simply jump in when he felt like it?

Has anyone tried sending an email rather than a PM to our wayward owners?

... and Scot is doing a good job of keeping a rein on things and updating all the lists (rosters, eligibles, picks so far, etc.) here, so shouldn't be a problem. I'm good with the tougher rules if everyone else is, though.

I'm getting married in October and our engagement party is this evening, so I won't be around at all tonight. However, I don't pick until the end of the second.

I'll be available any time tomorrow (after clean up) and Monday. I think if we are all just paying attention and checking in periodically, this should work pretty well.

Congratulations Matt!

I'm off to the church construction project (our original structure burned down three years ago and we are just finishing up the new building and site). I get to dig holes two feet across and four feet deep all afternoon - yay.

I won't be back until after Matt is gone but given that I have his 1st round pick it should all work out.

I have sent Catalion a PM and email informing him that it is his turn to pick. I gave him till 4:00pm CST to make a selection. If by 4:00pm CST he has not made a selection, I told him by email that I would make a selection for him and the draft would move along.

Does this sound fair to everyone?
