I have tried three different times to get the RANDOM faces to work in my fictional league.

Each time when I run the mod execute program I come away with the report message saying all 7123 players in my league do not have faces installed.

I have read thru all the comments wrt this mod.

I created a sub folder called photos to place all the photos in during the d/l per comments I've read.

Questions:

Do the random players photos HAVE to be converted by say intrafan before they will work? So many people just breeze thru this set up and get everything to work the first time. I assume they did not have to do the conversion process.

Others have mentioned they D/L the photos, convert and then place in the correct folders per section 7 in the OOTP customization manual thereby avoiding the execution program that comes with the mod.

Any help/advice would be appreciated as I would like to add my voice to the glowing reviews everybody expresses.

1. You HAVE to download the large face pack, if not supplyng your own photos.

They MUST reside in the correct folder as mentioned in the documents.

Dave,

Make sure to unzip Comedian's large photo pack to a new folder named c:\AU2006 (it has to be named this). From there, look inside the folder, and if needed, create a sub folder call photos, then MOVE all the photo folders inside C:\AU2006 into the new photos sub folder you just created.

Make sure to export the .csv of the league you're adding photos to, then finally run Comedian's app and try again (if you're doing a fantasy league you only need select random photos and deselect real life players).

TXS for your quick response and help.

I'll be a little more specific as to what I have tried so far:

1. Did do a CVS dump of my fictional league while running OOTP.

2. Did create C:\AU2006\photos folder.

3. Did D/L the large photo pack file and unzip into 2. above.

4. Did open and verify that there were actual photos in the D/L RANDOM photo folder.

5. Did run mod execute program selecting the correct league I did the CVS dump for. Also checked the block for random photos, entered 1870 to start and typed 1871 for end. Mod program then executed succesfully (no error messages, etc. occurred).

6. Did check reports for my league and indicated that of the 7200 players none had an active photo.

7. Ran OOTP and verified photos were not being displayed...only checked my 25 player active roster.

Used IE for the D/L's and have the latest version of OOTP.

I am assuming if I can muddle

my way through everything that my question about having to convert the photos to the right format for the game to recognize is NOT necessary...the mod itself accomplishes that and also conforms to section 7 in the OOTP customization manual.

PS-While I am waiting...I am going to D/L everything again as I believe a new version of the mod execute program is now available. I'll give it a fresh shot.

Dave,

At step 4 did you verify that you had a "photos" folder within C:\AU2006?

You may need to create this folder. Once you have, put the "random" folder and all the other folders inside the photos folder.

btw you don't need to convert the photo files.

Yes, set up C:\AU2006\photos\98,1871.....random.

Opened random photos and found numbers 1-24,904.

When I go to execute the mod program, I verified that it is using the league that I did the CVS dump. The path shown goes thru all the right files down thru \data\saved_games\new game 3.lg.

However, looking at the customization guide under section 7 don't these photos need to go farther down the path to include \news\html\images??? Is this my problem?

When I do reports it shows:

total players:7351

highest player #:7350

retired real photos:0

retired fake photos:0

active real photos:0

active fake photos:0

active no photos:7350

I have 7351 players per above, but my highest player number is only 7350???

Also, when I executed the mod program, the progress bar filled up smoothly thru about 70%... then was dropped abruptly to the message screen that stated everything was complete and go run/enjoy OOTP.

Also, I believe that the AU2006 file is supposed to have I believe an .ini file...there is not one in my folder.

Again...appreciate any assistance.

From the report it looks like things aren't happening like they should. If it worked, the program would take care of copying and naming all the photo files it needed into the appropriate folder within your saved league. Here's a filepath example.....

C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\saved_games\MLB2006V3.1base.lg\news\html \images

this is where the copied photos end up.

I think you'll have to dig deeper with Comedian to find out why it's not working for you ...sorry!

OK, sorry you are having problems.

OK, is this a historical league. I assume not, since you said you checked 1870 to 1871.

Did you have USE FAKE FACES checked?

As far as it jumping, that can be normal.

But your numbers make it sound like it should not be jumping. (Not sure about why highest player number is higher, will look into that)

Here is the way it works.

It looks in the players.csv file. It is listed as shown: (just showing what I use)

1;Hank;Aaron
2;Joe;Smith
...
...
2000;Frank;Tearit
4000;Joe;Rookie

When your new rookies come in, they start at the 4000 number or somewhere else. Thus the gap.

My program reads this file in order and counts the entries (less one for header) and reads in the ID.

It then checks to see if there is a Hank_aaron.jpg in the IMAGE folder. If there is, it moves to next player. If there is not, it will then check the folders on the years you indicated, 1870-1871, if no Hank_aaron.jpg is found, it grabs a random player and gives him a name of player_1.jpg and copies it over to that folder at this time.

Then moves to next player.

No, not the problem. I add that to it. The location should just be the location of the league file.

Also, I believe that the AU2006 file is supposed to have I believe an .ini file...there is not one in my folder.

The AU2006 file should be located in the C:\AU2006 folder only.

This is just used to store the last league you used. I am going to change that to a registry setting I think though. The INI file is used by all my programs, so if you load in a different program, the league is already selected. That is by design. The only exception is the LOGO program, which forces you to pick the league everytime you run it. This is also by design.

My league is a solo fictional league beginning in 2006. About 5 games into the season.

At the execute screen I did check USE FAKE FACES...start year 1870...last year 1871(typed in)...left NO REAL PLAYERS UNchecked.

The path shown at the top of the execute program shows the right league, but does NOT continue the directory through \news\html\images.

Is that my problem...do I need to complete the path down to and including the images file?

OK, try this...

Make sure you get the latest version. It should prompt you to download it when you run it.

Look under FILE and select TURN ON LOG.

Then run it. Look for a file called AUPHOTO.TXT in the AU2006 folder. The log file should look like this:

skipped C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\saved_games\1975b.lg\news\html\images\Ha nk_Aaron.jpg
copied to C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\saved_games\1975b.lg\news\html\images\Pl ayer_1.jpg

Also, since this is a fake league, just click on NO REAL PLAYERS. Make a check mark there.

See if that helps.

The log file will show if they were copied or not.

Went to your site to get the latest version shown to be V2.0.4.3. Got it from the link provided in your original post of this thread.

After installing I did not find TURN ON LOGS option.

At the top left corner there are two options:

FILE

REPORT

Under FILE are the following options:

load league
delete retired
maintenance
custom folders
staff photos
download staff

Under REPORT are the following options:

photos
google

Tried again and also checked the no real players option to the right of the end date. When I did this the start(1870) and end(1871) then became greyed out.

Executed the program with same results as previously reported.

Am compiling it agaain as 2.0.6.3

Make sure IE is your default browser and then just run the program again. It should tell you there is a new version.
