Gonzlaez

OOTPB has picked up more playing time, thanks to the newest patch, which I am liking. One tiny, tiny spelling issue: a Mexican player cropped up with the last name of "Gonzlaez". I'm pretty sure it should be "Gonzalez". Who knows, though, maybe the Hispanics have their version of Ellis Island bureaucracy.

Not having access to the name file right now, so this is actually a self pointer to look later.

This may be intentional.

Do you have any regularly spelled Gonzolez-named fellows?

Out of the 200+ players in my team's system, two to four at any one time are obvious misspellings. I either shrug and ignore them or edit them to my satisfaction.

Well, one has to be careful with this, though. Admittedly, "Gonzlaez" is likely to be an error, but often similar variations in names do occur in real life and it is not always apparent what might be a legitimate variation to either someone who does not have a linguistic background or someone who has not done alot of research on names. One needs to be careful to not remove legitimate names.

Well, I made a mistake: Mr. Gonzlaez is from Venezuela, not Mexico, as first reported.

A Google search of Gonzlaez seems to show that it's easy to mis-spell. Even people named Gonzalez mis-spell their own name on occasion.

In any case, I've grown accustomed to a Gonzlaez on my roster.

Twelve,

I suspect this is one of several things:

1. A problem with an imported league.
2. A problem with a league that was created prior to the most recent version of the game.
3. A problem with a name imported from Lahman or Arod.

The reason I say this is because that name has been corrected, and does not exist at all in the OOTP name files at this point.

At any rate, should definitely not be an issue for new games going forward. Curtis, please go ahead and report when issues like this crop up! We'd all like to clean that file as much as possible!
