Another piece of interesting news is that Owen Hargreaves did not play for Bayern München in their 2-1 win over VfL Bochum in today's Bundesliga match.
Of course he wants a move to Manchester United; Bayern say, in public at least, he's going nowhere. |

The Glasers are really flushing the franchise down the toilet by not buying new players. It did indeed turn out to be bad for Man U fans although they do share in the blame.

There are grounds for an element of doubt, and that is where things like the following come in: Quote:
You can put your squad into four categories: A - Existing players who were on relegation pace for the majority of last season B - Players who were not able to save their last EPL clubs C - Players who are yet to test their mettle at anything like this level of competition D - Players who are called Denny Landzaat Now that combination should rule out the feeling of certainty of safety that your fans are displaying. Does it mean you will go down? Of course not, but it does leave a number of questions to be answered before you should be feeling totally safe. Wigan’s season was so spiky it is hard to know what the real level of the team is. That great nine game run saved your backsides last season. Over the other twenty-nine games only Sunderland picked up fewer points. The question is was that run a poor side punching way over its weight while still being in the winning habit post promotion, or was the subsequent six months a side resting on its laurels with safety assured? |

Any team can go down even the top teams, few injuries, disgruntled big names obvious the odds of that happening grow the bigger the team but they do get relegated ask Leeds, Sheff Wed both big teams.
Simple reason for the bad run in was fatigue, we had a small squad and Camara had been away at the African Nations Cup, at one point against Liverpool because of injuries and suspensions and Camaera not being back we didn't have a recognised forward on the pitch or the subs bench heres what Jewell had to put out and their regular positions and in brackets were they played that day. 1 GK Pollitt (GK) 2 LB Ziegler (LB) 3 CB De Zeuuw (CB) 4 CB Henchoz (CB) 5 CB Jackson (RB) 6 CB Scharner (ST) 7 CM Thompson (LM) 8 CM Johansson (ST) 9 CM Kavanagh (CM) 10 CM Bullard (CM) 11 RM Teale (RM) Subs 12 GK Filan 13 RB Baines 14 CM Francis 15 CM Joyce (youth team player) 16 CM Mahon Wigan lost 1-0 now you show me a team who can play with no forward and 4 CB's and 4 CM's and do better than a 1-0 defeat to a full strength Liverpool team consisting of Dudek, Hyypia, Finnan, Carragher, Gerrard, Riise, Kewell, Hamann, Alonso, Morientes and Fowler. And it wasn't a backs against the wall game it was a very close game and a fair result would have been a draw and that's not being biased. The next game was against Spurs away which they drew 2-2 with the same line up apart from Chimbonda, Baines and Camara being in the team. The last few games that you mention went like this and i'm not offering excuses just trying to put a point across. H West Ham 1-2 L Better team than Wigan last season, no excuses. A Blackburn R 1-1 D How many teams win at Blackburn. H Birmingham 1-1 D Birmingham were fighting for survival, Wigan weren't. A Newcastle 1-3 L Wigan were 1-0 up when they had to replace both central defenders after 20 mins and Newcastle got a dodgy penalty even Newcastle media agree with that. H Aston Villa 3-2 W Won no need to explain .A Fulham 0-1 L Fulham had a great home record last season winning 13 drawing 2 and losing only 4 and two of those were against Arsenal and Man Utd. H Portsmouth 1-2 L Like Birmingham were fighting for survival, wanted the game more than Latics. A Arsenal 2-4 L Come on you really expected Arsenal to lay down on the last game at Highbury and they owed us one with knocking them out of the League Cup. |

A great site for anybody supporting the Prem sides are the mad uk sites, this is the Wigan Athletic one no idea what the home page link is but if you click on the "pick a team" it will lead you to any Prem team but also if you click the "more teams" it will lead you to other leagues and then you can click on the teams from those divisions EPL - Conferance and SPL - Div 3.
It gives you results and such dating back to about 1978 for Wigan Athletic but for some teams like Man Utd it gives you results dating back to the late 1800's when they were called Newton Heath and also game reports dating back to early 2000, game reports don't date back to 1800 sorry Also if you use your brains a bit you can go back to say the late 1800's like the Arsenal results for 1893 and click on any team and their full results for that season will come up teams like Small Heath who when you click on their results for 2006/07 they turn out to be Birmingham City something I only just found out http://www.wiganathletic-mad.co.uk/ |

May I offer a heads up? A new Hollywood version of the film 'The Wicker Man' is about to be released. It promises to be an overdone Hollywood piece of crap.
I would recommend the original film. Its a small masterpiece starring the underrated Edward Woodward. The plot revolves around a West Highlands policeman who arrives on a small Scots island looking for a missing little girl. Warning to anyone offended by what is gratuitous yet wonderful nudity. |

I just finished watching my Tivo'd Reading v. Boro match from yesterday. I suspect Reading will stay up (kiss of death) but even if they don't, they play one hella exciting game of football.
If I was going to bet I think it's likely Fulham, Watford and Sheffield go down, but I haven't seen Watford or Sheffield play yet.

UKHS...why did you choose the name AFC Springfield? I thought you were an American.
You have to many Wigan players to win this.

Attachment 53604 First time I went I used to stand on the left with my dad then when I started to go with my mates I moved into what they called the shed amongst other names which is the covered area at the bottom where the hardcore fans used to stand, that place used to bounce on derby days and big game days because the singing echoed inside. The right is where the away fans used to stand no joke the grass part where they stood is an hill bit like a mini mountain, on the pic it's covered in grass but usually it was just dirt and when it rained and got muddy you used to see away fans sliding down the bottom of the hill They knocked it down when Wigan moved to the JJB now it's an housing estate. No like I said yesterday I made a schoolboy mistake and brought in Heskey not realising Latics aren't in the fixtures for the coming week's fantasy game, besides not doing to bad seeing I have these Wigan players in my squad but my main man is John Terry.
