Just a couple minor things i noticed when playing out the games and not sure if they were mentioned here or not.
1) when there's a pitcher substitutions the play by play doesn't always let you know there was a pitching change. 2) some of the play by play is still querky at times. ie. a hit to the pitcher, throws to second to start the double play and the finishing line of the play by play had the runner getting under the tag and being safe. |

BTW, we really should cool this discussion off.

I have no idea what Mal, er, I mean The Wolf is so reticent about in terms of starting that new topic. He's shown no difficulty defending his positions here... and now when a chance comes up to actually discuss a feature suggestion in-depth, he rebuffs the chance. Seems a bit of a strange choice to me... |

I also would suggest that disaster would have occured if the game had not been released as promised, when promised. The scope of the PR disaster? I don't know, it would not have been pretty. Would it have been better to release it on July 1st? What would the consequences be? I know they've gone through a lessons learned process. I would hope they launch a public beta in mid March next year, for reasons I've written about elsewhere. Last edited by Raidergoo; 08-21-2006 at 12:15 AM. |

All "economic wherewithall" provides the large corporation is the ability to put out flawed games and be able to walk away from them or be uncaring about fixes because the consequence is negligible and thus, to a degree, dissatisfaction becomes affordable for them. EA and Sierra both have demonstrated just this kind of philosophy in one form or another.

Yes, you could run the other leagues and allow free agency, but this takes up much more processing time and disk space. And sometimes it's just easier to keep things simple. |

Thanks for the tips. That will work for now, although the limitations to the create players options for this situation lead me to another request.
How about the ability to determine the age range and an ability range for the player or players you want to create? For foreign players coming to Japan or Korea, some of the established players that OOTP creates are 24 or 25 years old with top flight ratings. Those players wouldn't be leaving MLB to play overseas, so I'd like to limit the range of ratings and the ages involved, to more accurately simulate the arrival of veteran free agents who are nearing retirement or are hoping to rejuvinate their careers. |

Since you want to know my motivation I was asked to help reduce the flames here by the mod and am trying to be obliging. Adding to this is the fact that none of the people who want to badmouth the mode know anything at all about it and just want a chance to play jump on the dissidents. No thanks.
