I really hope there isnt any kind of a quake in the UK as it could do massive damage if buildings havent been quakeproofed. Lets hope those little quakes are the biggest you guys experience.

Not quakeproof near me most of the houses near me are 100 yrs old, used to be loads of coal pits were I live and most houses were built for pit families.

You knew I was going to take this thread even further into the abyss by answering.

We don't get "large" earthquakes (like tornadoes) in the UK, so quakeproofing isn't needed - we're not near any tectonic plate boundaries. The highest on land recording was in 1984 in North Wales at M5.4, which I guess is modest by Californian standards.

I am so sad, aren't I?

5.4 is getting to the strong EQ area and for people not used to quakes I can imagine it was quite jarring. For those few seconds its like you have lost control and your life is in the hands of some unknown cruel power.

Wales seems to have all the bad luck.

For our UK posters the most famous commercial icon in America is a Cockney accented gekko. If you are interested here are the commercials..they are funny

There are fish and good chance a body or two, not saying false play but Hindley is just down the road and alot of drunks who go into Hindley to the pubs cut through the lake to get home and seen plenty of them going swimming so wouldn't surprise me if theres a body in, by all accounts there are deep tunnels at the bottom so a body could easily go in and never be found.

I see alot of American ads on MLB TV, no idea probably because of restrictions the ad's don't appear during the live broadcast but do when you watch the tape delay.

Youve seen the Geico ads? I wonder what Brits would think of them. Besides the Gekko they also have a great caveman ad.

Most of the crime activity years ago was centered around London, now it's still in London but also Manchester although I think I'm right in saying Nottingham is the gun crime capital.

Where I live the last murder was going on 30 years ago when a man who used to be a bully pushed a group of young kids too far and they jumped him one night going home, they got him down on the floor and one lad be about 14 just lost it and picked a breeze block up from a building site and just kept dropping it on his head, man who was killed was only identified by his watch.

From Robin Hood to today..some things never change in Nottingham. And its hard not to blame those kids for killing that guy.
