FA Signings still don't seem to be working "right"

I'm at January 2, 2006, using the latest cubbyfan rosters, and playing as the Chicago Cubs' GM (Jim Hendry HAD to go), I made a contract offer to free agents Matt Mantei and Larry Walker. Both signed on January 3, 2006. This is with the latest WIP patch. The contracts were both favorable to the FA, but there was no bidding. Will that only occur in the late fall?

I don't know that this would be a big problem, for me at least. January is getting a little close. If they had signed like that in November, or even December I'd call it a problem. But January seems like they should have been hearing enough offers, if offers were coming.

I think round about January of this year the only big names left that hadn't signed were the former Anaheim Catcher Molina and some pitcher who's obviously such a big name I can't remember it. Maybe Piazza was still out there... but that's a rarity that can't be duplicated in the game right now (he wanted to still be primarily a catcher).

Try simming ahead to 2007 and 2008 to extablish a trend. The roster set you are using is new and some things depend on what the roster set maker did when creating the file. January is a little late so tysok's assessment is probably accurate. Experimenting will ultimately tell.

It's not perfect, but a FA did sign with a different team. Although, I didn't know that he had signed until I pulled up his profile and saw that he was playing for another team. I feel that he should have told me that he signed with another team, but it's easy enough to figure out.

I didn't log a bug on this, but I did put in a feature request to get mail messages from FAs when they sign with another team.

Closing this as a tech support issue, though.

Thanks!
