That blew me away when Macha actually went out and argued. I honestly can't remember another time when he's done that.
OF course, he managed to screw everything up anyways by yanking Calero after 2 quick outs and Ibanez coming up. Apparently he was in the locker room trying to get another pack of Juicyfruit to rip into yesterday when Calero made Ibanez look like a Little Leaguer.

Well I'm back from my North Dakota roadtrip, and I see the A's won again. So I was gone 7/30 - 8/6, and during that time the A's went 6-1. You're welcome, guys!
![]() But now I'm not going anywhere else the rest of the baseball season, so they're going to just have to keep it up on their own.

Any win in which Loaiza starts is a good win.
At this point, can you expect anything better from Loaiza than 6 2/3 innings and 4 runs? |

For 21 million dollars, I expect more.
Realistically, he's a sack of cr*p and I doubt he'll ever have an ERA below 5.5 again. Total waste of money when Kirk Sarloos put up better numbers last year at a league minimum salary. Finding a way to ditch Loaiza should be priority 1a, along with extending Zito with the money that Loaiza is getting paid.

Milton Bradley shatters more bats than anybody else I've ever seen.

WHY MACHA? WHY DO YOU NOT PINCH RUN FOR THOMAS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 8TH INNING?
I hate you.

dola,
My point is proven once Thomas is PR for when the count goes to 3-2 and the runner will be going. Perfect example that Macha is managing for the tie and not the win. I still hate him.

trola,
the Interference double play must be what people were talking about when we all heard about Kendall's "intangibles," and the "little things" he does. It's just the "hitting the ball" and "throwing guys out stealing" that he doesn't do so well. :P

If the Rangers had gotten 1 more run in the 9th, you would've posted the exact opposite thing when Perez, not Thomas, came up to bat with the game on the line. |

As proven by the fact that Street gave up 2 runs in the 9th (don't get me started on the overworking and that Gaudin shoulda stayed out there), and the run Perez scored becomes that much more valuable. IMO, the bottom line is that there's a SLIM chance of needing extras, and you need to play for the insurance runs right now so you can give your closer (one of the best in the league) that extra cushion. Playing not to lose instead of trying to win was the wrong decision last night.

Though I still stand by what I said before. I'll take the 2 run lead and give up Thomas.

I like how none of us post on days like today, however, there is news.
Witasick was reinstated from the DL and Komine was sent down. Witasick continued his year-long suckage. After the game, Halsey was sent down to get a couple starts in before he's needed in a couple weeks. Not sure who is back up, but I'd guess Kennedy or Sauerbeck will be put on the roster within a day or so. |
