World Series + other great teams Roster set
Hey folks, I'm thinking of making my first foray into roster sets... kindof
I was really wondering if there's any interest in a roster set/universe with all 101 World series winners plus 27 other great teams in it for a 128 team universe. Obviously this is just a "for fun" kindof universe as obviously many players would be duplicated though I planned on adding the year of winning to the duplicate names ie , Jeter98, Jeter99. Also after running a season you'd end up adding fictional players to the universe. Each subleague would have a 64 teams in either a 8x8 or 16x4 division setup, what do you guys think? Any ideas appreciated....or should I just say to hell with it.

FYI, here's the 27 other "Great" teams I was thinking of adding.
1902 Pirates (first World series was 1903), '04 NY Giants, '06 Cubs, '12 NY Giants, '22 Browns, '33 Senators, '09 Tigers, '35 Cubs, '41 Dodgers, '46 Red Sox, '53 Dodgers, '54 Indians, '65 Twins, '74 Dodgers, '76 Phillies, '77 Royals, '82 Brewers, '85 Cardinals, '88 A's , '93 Giants, '94 Expos, '95 Indians, '96 Rangers, '98 Astros, '98 Braves, '98 Padres, 2001 Mariners. If anyone has better suggestions please make them. I picked most of these from other lists on the web I could find Edit: Swapped '34 Tigers for '09 Tigers Last edited by Khan; 07-14-2006 at 07:38 PM. |

I would rather see one of the 07-09 Tiger teams, rather than the 1934, because it was largely the same roster as the 1935 team.
Ty Cobb has got to be in this roster somewhere! |

I would LOVE to see a league like that.
Curious, how are you gonna do it? Are you going to import every player individually into each team? It seems like that would take forever. And since there is no 'team import' capability, I would be interested in your method. |

I would go for it! Will the Minor league teams have fictional or real people on them?
05 Astros? 04 Cardinals?

I was considering creating the league 1st with correct teams but fictional players, then releasing/deleting all of them and exporting the rosters which will give me an empty template. Then go thru each year creating a historical league from one of the database's (probably Arod/Garlon's), exporting the rosters and then taking the teams I want and putting them into the original blank template and then re-importing the league. This will still be tedious and take a longtime and will still require other editing I think. I've never tried it out fully, so i'll have to see how it goes. If anyone knows an easier way, please tell me

I was also thinking, of turning aging down to 0 and having no draft so theoretically the teams could just go on playing it out year after year. I've never tried that so I'm not sure what would happen

For the 1000's of you
interested in this.I've got all the teams in a .csv for importing rosters. I thought I could just import into an empty league and all would be well, but testing proved otherwise. Importing over fictional players worked but some still remain so they need to be deleted ,which will take some time. |
