make the in-game scheduler be able to create a schedule based on an input of the user...such as:

24 in-division games vs each team
15 intraleague games vs each team
3 interleague games vs each team

something along those lines.

How about some of the following, regarding player contracts:
  • 10/5 Rule
  • no-trade clauses
  • player, team, and mutual options
  • players becoming free agents if traded during a multi-year contract
  • compensatory draft picks for arb-offered free agents lost
  • incentive clauses
  • make trading draft picks optional (for those who want more realism)
  • not allowing minor leaguers to be traded, until they've been with their team for at least one year (as in real life)

I didn't read through this whole thread, but did some searching through the forums about this, but never saw what I was looking for.

This revolves completely around the trading of draft picks.
1. I saw a post that suggested trading multiple years of picks (this would be nice as an option - an additional option above and beyond allowing the trading of picks in general).
2. A switch to define how the computer weights the value of a draft pick. Something like Won't trade the pick, Values picks highly but could trade it, Willing to trade picks, and Hates picks - you can have them.
3. When trading picks, open a subwindow (like find players) in which it lists all picks you currently own, in order by year/round.

And the reason I came to the site and am posting.....

4. A report that shows the traded draft picks (show me what picks each team still has) and make this report also in the general Online League html generation script too, as online leagues would benefit greatly from this and people like myself wouldn't have to keep updating it.

What would be great is to have a way to help a player during the season.A trainer option,go to the bar kind of like itp baseball.it would add to the game if say the player was slumping or just needed some extra time in the batting cage.them options could help or could hurt them it's just a chance option to add to the game.also mound visits with feed back would help.then you could pick to pull from the game or let the pitcher hang in there.
this game is going to be sweet.(LA BLUE ALL THE WAY)

6.51 quirks for review

I did not look through all the posts in this thread, so I apologize if they have already been discussed.

I am playing 6.51 solo. I have played OOTP for 3 years now, year round. I have a couple things I have noticed, that I have created rules for myself to increase the level of difficulty. They are:

One, on the first three days of the post season, I do not allow my team to claim any players on waivers. The AI usually does September call ups without regard to whether a player has any option years left. When I first began playing OOTP, the easiest way to improve my team was to have open spots on the 40 man roster on the last day of the season, then look at all the 4.0 and 5.0 pitchers that the AI would try and pass through waivers. The logic for September call ups, option years remaining and then having to get back down to the 25 man roster by the AI needs to be improved.

Two, after the June amatuer draft and until the end of the season, I do not allow my team to trade for players that were drafted in that seasons June draft. The AI relies more on production that a player has acheived, versus potential, to judge whether it should accept a trade offer. Until I realized the trend, it was incredibly easy on the day after the draft to trade my 1.5 gold star first basemen, stuck at triple AAA for this years number one draft pick.

Three, other posts have been written (by individuals like SkyDog) who play with coaches & scouts off. The theory was that the "fog of war" is greater with them off as opposed to them being on. I have played a different way. I do not allow my team to sign coaches and scouts until after the third day of the signing period. In this way, AI teams can see the landscape and develop players better than my team, thus increasing the "fog of war" above even turning off the coaches and scouts. My suggestion would be to eliminate the absolute ratings on coaches and scouts, and rather have you choose and hire coaches and scouts based on results acheived (minor league team batting averages vs an average minor league team), thus making a coach or scouts ability also part of the "fog of war".

I love OOTP. I just want it to continue getting better. So I am hoping the above can be looked at some time in the future.

A Twins fan from way back.

I don't have the time at the moment to read through all 7 pages of posts here, but I would REALLY like to see a simple way to override the AI selections for All-Star games and end of season awards, as well as the ability to add end of season awards.

Advance scout feature is already in Test Track as a requested feature. It would be keen to have this automated. Stick a scout in that role, and get reports a few days before the upcoming series.

If anyone has a post in this thread that has not been addressed, I'd encourage you to make it again in one of battist's threads.

Just keep in mind battists has maybe 25 or so topics planned for review; he's just scratched the surface with his current posts.

Personally I think we should close this dinosaur and use battists' new system. As good as some of the ideas are in here it's a bit of mess, imo.
