Need to get my last +1 in here... this thing has really taken a turn for the worse. Darn immoral liberals again... talking about slippery slopes is a slippery slope to tangential discussions.

I can't believe I wasted time reading this thread.
I don't miss stars, I really don't care...but how could such a small issue make the game unplayable? at least there's something CLOSE to it...it's not like you have nothing. To me it seems like certain people in here take this stuff for granted. As far as The Wolf's scenario's go, it's been 2 months since the game was released, not 2 years. He's acting as if Markus came out and said "Listen The Wolf, I will NEVER implement ANY of the things you want because I don't care what my fanbase wants". Maybe he thinks that stars are less meaningful, and it's his game, so deal with it. But any of these other things, Historical Simming features included, will surely be implemented in the future, and if they aren't Markus will have a good reason for it. No one knows the marketing strategy but the folks over at SI. Maybe they realized that more people (I'm sure there's many people who've bought the game that don't go onto the boards) are into fictional leagues than Historical Leagues, or maybe he just didn't have time to do it all. But please, I beg SOME of you, stop whining. You sound like 4 year olds who aren't getting their way. So I'll say what I used to say to my younger brother..."Cry me a river, build a bridge, and GET OVER IT". Edit: and I'm sure I'll be called a fanboy, but I'm really not...I don't care if you like it, hate it, play it, or never purchase it again. Doesn't make a bit of difference to me. I'm not sure if you are addressing your comments to me or not, but please point me to the thread were I said the game was unplayable because there were no stars.
I simply said it was a feature that I feel should be added to 2007. I even went as far to say that other features should have priority. |

But one could just as easily say that they have a right to ask for what they want in a gameand you need to get over that. Now I admit, that the whining tactic may not be the best to get what you want. But attacking the whiners and telling them to get over it does nothing to stop the whining. In fact it only encourages it.

At the risk of necroposting. IMO, OOTP 2006 simply seems to be a worse game than OOTP 6.5. Maybe its an American thing, maybe its an old man thing or maybe its just me, but 6.5 was easy to understand and use and had an excellent interface, while 2006 seems bloated and unfriendly. Its as if I bought an English sports car with a fine engine, but I have to open the doors with a crowbar, learn how to drive a stick and learn to drive with the steering wheel on the right side of the car. Of course I hated NFL Head Coach as well and it tried to do Football Manager with a "Football" game so maybe its just me.
While the reviews are vastly different 2006 reminds me of the upgrade from MOO 2 to MOO 3. In MOO 3, I expected a great 4X game and got a spreadsheet, here I expected 6.5 greatly enhanced and got Football Manager with Baseball Players. Of course with Baseball Mogul, I get baseball sim timewarped to 1990 (has Clay played another sports sim since he created BM?) and with Puresim its your offline online league (some one please rent Shaun an interface). So I guess its time to get on with life and forget baseball simming eh? They ever gonna come out with the promised boxing career sim? |
