Multiple seasons

Is there a way to sim multiple seasons to build league history before taking over a team? I've toyed with the game for a while, but it seems like I just need to sim season by season. I'd like to start a solo fictional league in 1970 & sim through 2005 to create 35 years of history, records, etc. before joining in for 2006.

Is there an easier way?

Select the later year and chosen date in the dropdown menu on the schedule screen and then choose "sim to date" or something like that.
