Personnel issue
I'm not sure whether to call this a bug, a design quirk, or simply something I don't understand.
I'm running the Mac version, and for my first league I loaded the MAL quickstart. A window that came up when I loaded it suggested I apply for a job as a GM, IIRC, which I did. (I did whatever it suggested, anyway.) I signed on apparently as the GM of the Billings River Bats in the Pioneer League. Since I wanted to play out my team's games and to try to make sure the AI would not mess with lineups and depth charts, I went to my manager home page and set myself as the one in charge of those settings. While I was there, I noticed that it was set so that the GM of the parent club was in charge of the trades, roster moves, etc. and I could not change those settings which was fine with me, but I think may be relevant to my issue. Ok, all that is background info to my question. My question is as to whether I really am the GM or the Manager or both. I am unsure because of some inconsistencies. On my manager home page, I can choose an AI manager to handle the lineups, etc. in the option I mentioned earlier. Also, when I click on the Personnel link on my team's homepage, said AI manager is listed as the manager. I can't bring up any option to fire him. (control/right clicking on his name does nothing.) However, when I go to the Personnel tab, I am listed as manager. The name given for the "AI manager" mentioned on my home page is nowhere on the personnel list. Also, on the Personnel tab screen, I can control/right click on one of the other personnel and bring up a menu among which is the option to fire that person. So, who is this AI manager? Why is he on some lists, but not others? Can I fire him and make myself the "real" manager? Last edited by OakDragon; 06-08-2006 at 04:32 AM. |

You are the real manager. However, transactions are handled by your parent club, so the roster is out of your control. You DO control depth charts and lineups, but be careful...these can change when players are promoted/demoted from your roster.

Why is the AI manager listed in those other places then, I wonder? And why can I apparently fire my AI coaches but not this AI "manager"?

It's just an option to mirror the option you have to just play as GM when controlling a major league club.

There are definitely some things relating to the minor league manager experience that need to be tightened up in future versions. In terms of functionality, jb pretty much nailed what it's supposed to be doing. Thanks. |

Sure thing. Here they are. Notice the "Manager" is different in each screen.

This issue has been claimed fixed in the next patch, but has not yet been verified.
